I'm a bit overwhelmed, Is there a main goal one can achieve? The mayor has nothing to say and I don't know whether the second floor of the dungeon is meant to be accessible and I'm too dumb to figure out how or if it's not accessible.

The base is super solid either way, I love these very detailed environments with plenty of characters offering dialogs, the movement is perfect, it feels very good and the gunplay is satisfying with the caveat that the enemies, even when they react in the arena, are not much of a threat.

Also I think the game 100% meets the jam requirement, they've been some cool games with bullets not following the grids during the previous years such as these 2 ones :

It definitely doesn't violate the rules and I don't think it violates the spirit of the jam either.

I think it's more common to turn around with QE and strafe with AD than the opposite way.

Thank you for checking it out. I spent most my time working on the village then had to rush to throw some dungeon crawler into it so it's very incomplete right now. I should add that to the description. The second floor of the dungeon is blocked off because I ran out of time. I have seven floors built, but they are mostly empty.

I plan to circle back and address the following items:

  • address player reported issues
  • add a little bit of backstory and direction
  • add a little backstory about the giant chicking landing on the rock cliff and causing the tunnel to collapse
  • add the dungeon entrance model back to the title screen
  • fix the monsters not attacking in the dungeon (raycast issue)
  • change the dialog to 'use' instead of 'trigger' based
  • add in the remaining dungeon levels with their own monsters and polish
  • improve powerup placement in the dungeons to be more deliberate
  • add a wand/staff upgrade and modification page
  • mobs will drop XP orbs that can be used to upgrade the player's wand
  • the wand is technically a Wand of Randomness and it will be changed to occasionally shoot chickens instead of missiles, the upgrades involve increasing power by increasing randomness; some of the upgrades might be cosmetic, but that's a bit of a joke because you never see the wand in the game (other than the upgrade page)
  • mobs will drop fives tiers of clothing. it can be given to the villagers and they will be grateful, but is otherwise pointless
  • add more music tracks, especially "aggressive" sounding tracks to the dungeon and arena
  • add more sound effects
  • fix the weather to start nice and slowly get worse
  • give the arena multiple waves, some randomness to the environment, and a boss at the end
  • add a quest that involves finding seven items, one on each floor of the dungeon
  • add a quest that involves completing the dungeon
  • add a quest that involves completing the arena
  • add some silly cozy quests like pulling weeds, delivering a love letter, and finding a lost pet
  • add back the out-of-place NPC that got lost looking for Stormwind City

Some items that might be added at some point include:

  • save games
  • statistics
  • inventory
  • real items
  • rudimentary skills and leveling
  • mac and linux builds
  • performance tuning
  • AI for the villagers. i had planned to have them on schedules and have daily routines.
  • more dialog
  • give the player a house that they can customize

Thank you again for taking the time to check out the game and providing feedback! It means a lot.
