Hey LJ LephemStar, it’s been a while!

I’ve been following your work for years, and honestly, I played the older version of your game so much that the songs got completely stuck in my head. It had something truly unique a special charm that really drew me in.

Now with this new version, I found myself feeling kinda like that Knuckles meme: “hmmm I don't know...”

The visuals are still gorgeous, no doubt about that. But since I was so used to the original, I’m having a hard time connecting with this new take even though I can tell how much care and evolution went into it.

I think what’s missing for me is that “special flavor” the old version had, you know? It had that vibe that made me open the game again and again just to hear the songs until my brain begged for mercy 😂.

In this new version, even the melodies and vocal style feel different, and that’s been distancing me from the emotional impact I felt before.

If my feedback makes any sense, maybe it’s worth seeing if others felt something similar. Either way, I’m still rooting for the project!

And just one little fan request: please go easy on the synthwave track, alright? It was my favorite... If that one changes too much, I think my heart might break 😅💔

games change a lot in development, this is the direction the game will take...

I'd use pizza tower as an example, being a very different game in the early test build

asking LJ to make the game like the demos is like telling a baby to stop walking and keep crawling because its cute...

in any case a mod will probably come out shortly after launch to have older vocals and stuff anyway

Everything in the game has to work together to as a full final package. If I kept all the old stuff the same, it wouldn't work well with the new stuff. It may feel strange at first when things change during development, but could you imagine how strange it would be, especially to a brand new player, if the character designs, art style, and vocal style of the whole game suddenly changed after the first few stages while playing the final game itself? I'm glad you had so much fun with the test demo, but I never really intended for people to get so attached to it, hence why I've always been clear to say everything's "Subject to change in final".

Feeling less connected to something because you aren't as used to it is a textbook case of nostalgia. You have memories and feelings associated with the version you played that you naturally wouldn't have with one you're not as familiar with, and that's okay. No matter how good something is, the "special flavor" is something you have to find in it with new memories and experiences.

If you want to recapture that old feeling, the old demo's still playable, but if I wanna make the game I truly want to, I have to be able to move forward. Either way though, thanks for your support! :)

That's a really good way to put it! I imagined if any pre-release stuff was included in the final, it'd be in a separate menu, E.G. final version of Cream Cheese Icing in Story Mode, but in free play mode you could choose to play the OG song and beatmap(?), something along those lines.

It's weird how I actually do feel pretty nostalgic for the 2021 version of the game - it's only been four years ;-; But ofc I'm hyped for how you and the team's experience will lead to a more polished and fun game in the end!
