Honestly jazz was a real weak spot for me before this jam as well.

I spent the 2 weeks leading up to the jam working on a single song in the exact same style to practice. That way, when the jam started, I already had the style in mind which was a huge help. 

It also helped that I just improved drastically as a composer in the last few months.
