Very engaging and entertaining game! It strikes the right balance between easy to learn and giving a challenging experience. The only thing that bothered me was the length of the dead time (discard and dealing of the cards). If you could speed up that animation or something similar, it would be just that little bit better.

Yea i just modified the discard time to be faster, and added screenshakes for losing bet.  Will add them post jam.
Do let me know if you have skill ideas too! Anything wacky or funny like eating cards hahahaha

I know it’d be a lot of work, but could you add a custom deck system with skills that affect the deck permanently (add cards, eat/remove cards, maybe change suit, etc. )? Here’s a list of skill/general ideas:

  •   Maybe a skill to directly take cookies from an opponent or force them to bet and/or increase the minimum bet amount
  • Maybe extra points if all cards are of the same suit
  • Maybe swap cards with your opponent
  • Maybe a skill to randomly use two other skills for the cost of one
  • Maybe a skill that makes the next skill used free
  • Maybe allow you to use 2 skills next turn
  • Maybe permanently increase/decrease the number of a card (similar to strength from Balatro)
  • Maybe you can eat your cookies for buffs (they are delicious after all)
  • Maybe a card to show you the odds that the next card wins (not sure how useful this is)

These are just some ideas; don’t feel obligated to add any of them. The last and probably hardest to implement would be a local 1v1 against a friend. It could as a sense of competition when otherwise it’s basically just betting. Feel free to add what you want from this list, or don’t. It’s your game, do what you think is good.

I need to account for game balancing so some might not be feasible, but I did gain alot of new ideas from you!

Like winning if all cards same suit, card eating, card cloning, cookies explosion that distribute cookies from pool but randomly to you and opponent, and alot more!

My intention for this game was for multiplayer, but its kinda hard so I am still studying on how to make it.
