At first glance, I honestly thought it was going to be one of those over-the-top booba games with not much depth, it completely took me by surprise. The gameplay is genuinely fun and well-designed, the puzzles are freshly new, and the overall presentation is fantastic.

I especially appreciated the part of the game where you battle the Kitsune boss (if she doesn’t have a name) because HOLY, I literally let Vuu and her crew die on purpose just to hear that entire song. That moment alone was worth it.

It’s clear how much thought and care went into this. You’ve taken something that could’ve easily been dismissed as a gimmick and turned it into a truly solid, enjoyable experience. I’m really excited to see how the game evolves, and I’d love to know if there’s a proper place to share feedback or suggestions!

(Sorry if any of this came out unclear, thinking in Portuguese and writing in English is hard as hell!)

[I Also have ideias for the game if you allowed me to share anywhere (: ]

It's cool to see that someone else was surprised by this reason besides me.

This demo reminds me of the games I liked when I was younger (specifically the "Fantasy Zone" franchise and the game "Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine").

Thank you so much! That made me really happy, I'm glad you enjoyed it this much ^^

Feel free to share ideas for sure! I can't make any promises but I'd love to hear them

Sorry for the late response!

I was thinking about a CO-OP MODE something simple, but fun. In every battle, the character's heart would be split into two parts:

  • One that can deal damage to shapes, use spells, and has armor.

  • The other that can only match, cannot leave the match area, and has no armor.

I think that alone would be a cool feature to enjoy with friends, and it would add a bit of extra spice to the game. (It could be expanded beyond battles too, but I’m still figuring out how.)

This mechanic could be called Prince and Princess CO-OP.

Also, I'm planning to create a full body art concept for Alma as the story progresses; When Vuu and her crew find a “temporary body” for her. It’s basically a body made of… paper! And balloons around the chest area, which start deflated in the lower ranks but inflate more as she ranks up. (:

(Maybe I shouldn't do the job of the developer but welp)

No worries ^^

That's an interesting idea!
I've seen suggestion for a versus mode but never for a coop mode before. The problem with both is that figuring out online play and how to properly implement it would be too much time and work at this point... I need to focus on the solo experience first. I'll keep it in mind for later but no promises...!

Ooh, I'd be curious to see that! ^^
I do have some plans for Alma somewhere down the line :B

I was actually thinking about a local CO-OP mode, since I saw in your other comments that an online multiplayer mode wouldn’t be possible, at least for now.

After my last comment, I thought of a few more elements for the CO-OP mode, such as:

  • The Princess (the one who can’t leave the match area) moves using WASD and can traverse mobile areas by double-clicking in the desired direction.

  • The Prince uses mouse and can only reach the other side of the screen by passing through these mobile areas.

  • If they meet while one is jumping through a mobile area and the other is already inside it, they both receive a small buff:

    • Princess gains temporary level 1 armor (can endure one hit)

    • Prince gets a 10-second damage buff against shapes

Here’s an example (not covering everything above, just to illustrate the idea):

As for Alma, I’m really trying to replicate Be Witches art style, but it might end up looking a bit different since I only have experience with art apps like Aseprite. Other than that, it should be fine (and pixelated)

Here's a sneaky peek  .O. :

Ooh cute! I do love the pixelated look so you won't see me complain ^^

There is an extension to allow multi mouse mouse support with GameMaker actually, but in any case it would still be too involved for me to add this kind of gameplay and make sure it works with the rest (and keep it in mind for the rest of development), as much as I appreciate the thought you put into this!

I finally finished, here's Alma:

I know it's a bit rough, but my main inspiration was Captain Underpants! Especially the cape and that bold "hero" face. Even though Vuu is technically the main character, she really gives off that “touch me and die” energy in her battle pose, so I wanted Alma to contrast that in a funny way.

There were a few other details I focused on:

  • Instead of using super high-quality paper, I went with something more crumpled, since Rose wasn’t exactly careful while doing her part.

  • Tapes were used to hold the body together. “I did my best,” T says, while poor Alma screams in pain from her barely-connected body parts.

  • A broken barrel appears after unlocking the Smash Mouse ability.

  • All the balloons were managed by Vuu both the ones on the chest and the very stretched used to fit those hips. The one who proudly said to comfort Alma, “It’s good to have BOOBS.”

“After getting banned from the material store, Vuu and her crew start using whatever they can find to help Alma get a new body, breaking barrels, stealing tape rolls, popping balloons… sometimes getting totally sidetracked from their main goal, but still managing to make something work in the end.” (A made-up backstory, probably best to leave it to the dev, -u-)

And I couldn’t do the legs. For some reason, expanding the canvas too much caused lag. And yes, they ran out of material, leaving poor Alma with just one ripped hand.

Now that I ran out of ideas, I will play TF2 waiting for your response, goodbye NoseBecc.

She looks surprisingly happy for having gone through such a bad time lol!
Thank you for the fanart! The crumpled paper look is a fun idea ^^

Thank you! I imagine Alma is just trying to stay positive while her entire body is being held together with nothing but cheap materials after all.
Glad you liked the crumpled paper idea! I figured Rose wasn’t exactly the “neat and careful” type anyway.

And If there’s anything else a mere player like me can do to help with the development of the game, I’d be more than happy to! (:

Thank you very much! I do have things covered on the dev side, but I appreciate it, it means a lot ^^

To be honest spreading the word about the game is probably the best way to help me out! Getting good visibility online is one of the toughest parts for sure
