I think the dragon cave might be bugged? I just wandered the caves for a irl hour and have not encountered the gems for the potions and there are dragon soldier patrols like if I sided with the dragon on a save where I fought the dragon

The gems are intentionally hard to find as the dragon potions are meant to be hard to craft. Dragons have few penalties that matter much by that point in the game where the party will likely have multiple tens of thousands of gold.

Do you the player or a companion invested in Foraging to increase the odds?

I do have a party member with high foraging.

Is there a specific foraging level needed?

I still do not know why the dragoness' are in the cave still? And ontop of that it seems my dragon sword is gone too. I don't know what I did to cause it.

Ok nvm I think I sold the sword for some reason.

It is a base 2% chance to reveal with each point in Foraging boosting that chance by 4%. The next update coming soon will make some nodes easier to find and add in a few high-yield nodes that are more difficult. The nodes are mainly on the edges of the map.
