Yup, can't enter the cabin in the middle of events. The cage isn't there because you have the key. But I guess you haven't unlocked the potential contents of the cage yet...
Thanks for the clarification on log entries and being in the middle. I am not sure if I have had the ability to unlock the cage.. I will explore that :)
