i think ive figured it out, i was teleported, when i slept in a bed, it fixed itself, if i see it again, i'll take a screenshot
I imagine you saved on a bed in the old version, got loaded in on the same bed in the new version, your character got put into the sideways position to allign with the bed, then, as part of the cleanup when loading old saves, teleported to the middle of the town without actually stepping off the bed. A very wonky edge case.
