at what point in the game does this happen? when we fight yui? and i don't remember about the slimes

As it says in the picture - the combat added in
versions 0.4.0 and 0.4.1 (as in, the slimes).

If you're still at the start with fighting Yui, no,
quicktime events are quite different to the
much later turn-based fights.

thanks bro! do you know at what point in the story these combat mechanics are unlocked? I think I'll stop playing until the new update so that there are no bugs in my save.

Right near the end, I don't know exactly
at what point though. Just keep an eye out for the job board mission to kill slimes, and I guess go back once you see a turn-based combat interface.
