Virus Detection has signalled a Trojan Horse in a .ZIP File:

https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-3/rate/574161 Here is the corresponding game, when you downloaded it please check your computer and beware of it. I included some more information on the Trojan Horse Virus and especially the Bitrep.B as a Link to a Microsoft Encyclopedia Page.

My Windows Defender has signalled a Trojan Horse Virus in this ZIP.file and contained it before I't could do any damage for every one else who downloaded it or plans to please don't until this situation is cleared. For more information on the File used read the Microsoft Encyclopedia Page

Hey there! Thanks for reporting! I checked with different scanners and got multiple hits; https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/5c14deefbdd6a3261e82fb32bcc30b23a10f90f14446fbe5ef70baffcfb9fb31/detection

I removed the entry and notified an itch admin of this. Thanks again!

No problem I've benn trying a lot of games and I never would have anticipated that. Still thanks a lot for your fast reaction and sorry for the inconvienience caused.

This is my game. I am sorry to any that has been affected by it. I promise it did not come from my computer. I just did a scan of my computer and it does not detect any trojen horse. I am saddened by this and saddened that I have been removed from this jam. :(

Here is a picture of the scan I did just five minutes ago of my computer.

I also ran a second scan through Windows Security of my entire computer. Same result of zero threats found.

NICE! sick game

Just wanted to post one more update to this situation. It has been bothering me that this file was corrupted, and yet scan after scan of my computer shows nothing. (I scanned with Webroot, Windows Defender, and Malwarebytes).  After lots of searching on the topic, I discovered today that because I am programming in visual studio and the file is not signed, it will read as malware/virus. It is not. The file is actually clean. With many of these virus/malware scanners, if the file is not signed, it is automatically considered suspicious malware and sometimes labeled a Trojan.

Them I'm very sorry for everything. I just wanted to make clear that noone gets a Virus just because they wanted to download a Game from this Game Jam. Luckily there are only 2 Days left so you can upload again after the rating time passed. Still I'm sorry for all the trouble caused. But if it would haven been a virus I definitely didn't want it to stay longer then needed as a downloadable file. So just clear the error with the unsigned file so it doesn't show up as a virus and you'll be easily able to upload it without any further trouble.

I am not upset with you on this. I am actually glad you took action. If it was a virus, I would have felt terrible for spreading it. It also turned this into a learning experience for me. I now have to figure out how to sign my work. I hope it is as simple as clicking a button, but I very highly doubt it will be. I also hope that others that are programming without a game engine will see this and learn from it as well. Getting booted from the game jam was disappointing, but I completely understand. Overall, the jam and learning more about the technology industry, a great experience.
