this was a big issue for me too and I was pulling my hair trying to figure out how to ensure there is always a flower within jumping distance -- I would say it works about 80% of the time but if I were ever to expand on the game I would lock that down for sure.

I think the easiest solution is to also generate a flower at the same reliable distance all throughout to make it possible as a kind of rhythm game too. Keep the tempo and hop, hop, hop.
