When first opening Asset Forge 2.0, when a file is saved the program displays a file dialogue, as expected. However, if a previous file had been saved and Asset Forge 2.0 has not been closed, clicking "File" -> "New..." then later clicking, "File" -> "Save" will continue using the old save file name and overwrite the original file without bringing up a file dialogue.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Asset Forge 2.0
- Add any number of blocks (for example, make a simple house)
- Alternatively, you can load an existing model, and the remaining steps will be the same
- Click File -> Save
- Navigate to the save location in the OS file dialogue, and provide a name, for example, "House"
- Click File -> New...
- Will be prompted to save. Click Save OR Don't Save (Doesn't matter, as the next step will overwrite the first save)
- Add any number of blocks (Don't build the same exact model as the previous save, as it won't be apparent, for example, make a car)
- Click File -> Save
- No file dialogue appears. File has saved under the old file name.
- Click File -> Open
- Click Save OR Don't Save (Doesn't matter again, unless you made more changes since the last change on the new model)
- Navigate to the first file saved (per the example, "House.model")
- The NEW model (a car per the example) will load
Workarounds
- Close Asset Forge 2.0 and open a new instance when working on new models
- Use File -> Save as... the first time after creating a new model if a previous model had been saved during the same running instance of the program
