Are compilers allowed?

A friend pointed me at which claims to compile ZX BASIC to machine code. Is it allowed to use this to speed up programs in the jam? I personally think if it works, and makes a difference to the performance of the creation it should be allowed, but only if the original BASIC source it's based on is provided. What do you think?

Hi Alan,

I also like Boriel's compiler but for this jam I think it would mean others would be at a disadvantage.
No machine code allowed for this particular Jam I'm afraid. But you can always do you compiled version after the jam separately.

Part of the fun is to work within the limits of BASIC. Like the classic Football Manager for instance :)
