This is a very nice chiptune representation of a casino! The heavy pluck bass alongside the swung percussive hits sets the stage for a jazzy rhythm section. The melodies weaved overtop are reminiscent of reedy jazz instruments and those bluesy syncopated melodies paint the picture of what Gamblecore Square looks like extremely well. I imagine this track working super well in a game setting like the Rocket Game Corner in the original Pokemon games.
Constructive feedback: You clearly have a solid foundation for harmony because you fit in so many colors into this track with largely only using 2 or 3 chords. With that in mind, I think you played it pretty safe with your harmonic choices. I did like the shift to the bVI chord in the B section, but I think I was left wanting a little more added color. At 1:06, that is the kind of harmonic movement (even if the bass is used as a pedal tone) that I think could be expanded on a little more throughout the piece. This track works very well as it stands currently, but I wonder if these suggestions could help add some more character to the location if there were maybe a different section of Gamblecore Square that required a slight variation of the theme. Maybe a high-roller section? Maybe this is only personal preference, so take it with a grain of salt.
Overall this track nailed the theme, is catchy, and memorable. These are some pretty important qualities of good video game music - bravo for that! Great work and thank you for sharing!
