How does your game implement the focus, Multi-Use?
Guns are used to eliminate enemies whilst help control ship temperature. They also deal damage scaling with ship temperature which increases quicker if the ship has taken more damage.

Hey really solid effort for first game jam! As soon as you start the game the hostiles are all around you and the instructions only tell you two different options but there's actually a lot more you can do.
Nice game! Idea with healing and dealing extra damage sounds interesting!
Well done for your first jam! Liked the concept, however, I felt like I couldn't shoot enough to dissipate the heat generated. Like the other comments are saying, only being able to shoot in the direction you're moving is quite limiting.
Another improvement could be made in the background. Due to it being static and the ship always being around the center of the screen, it sometimes felt like there was no movement. Some background elements like planets or suns could alleviate this.
The idea is nice, but the controls were too limiting. You can only shoot forward, so you can never move while shooting. That makes it frustrating to fight, because everytime you want to hit enemies, you get hit by them. I agree to Marcus Himself, there is potential, just try to make the systems better.
I played the game several times and I'm still not sure how exactly the heat system works, although I think the idea is pretty interesting. If done right the risk vs reward of increasing heat to deal more damage but risk to be blown up could be pretty nice and challenging. What I found a bit limiting was the fact that I can only shoot straight forward. I think it would work better if you aim with your mouse in any direction you want while driving the boat. Then you could even add mounted weapons that can only shoot 45 degree or so to one side. There is potential :)
Neat little prototype. Unfortunately the concept of more damage with hotter temperature isn't really communicated in the game so it feels none-existant.

I did make some tweaks to it before publishing the final build but I think you are right. There does need to be more emphasis on this factor.
