My development setup is a bit more than tricky to move. And I love game jams and will make a game around the theme regardless but will I be able to receive any prizes?

Same here i would like to participate but i cant make it to the jam can i stay home

Yes. People can participate remotely. The tricky part is prizes, as judges will need to have the game shown to them somehow. We could try some sort of Skype thing, but that gets tricky. That's why I mentioned to be eligible for prizes, someone would need to be able to present the game to the judges.  If you don't care about the prizes, that's fine, you can still submit your game to the jam page.

Okay well I can potentially come in and present it on someones machine there? I will make a game and upload either way

Yeah you are welcome to use my laptop to present it if you like. It's a Windows machine with a GTX 1080 card in it.
