Huh. I didn’t really understand what was happening and then I died. Interesting idea, but I wasn’t sure if there was some sort of win condition?
As a side note, there is a Pointer Lock API, but I’m not sure if and how Godot supports it.
I think the mouse rotation needs some work - I saw that you said the web build was a bit buggy, so I downloaded and tried it locally. It seems like when I move the mouse to look around, my character is rotating? Between that and how dark it is, I can't find the lamp button. 3D movement is difficult to get down, much less in three hours, so I'm just impressed you went 3D to begin with.
This is more of a performance art piece than a game. I find it fitting how the thumbnail captures, after fumbling around in the dark, the player's single moment of discovery; that tiny duration where the player believes hope is not all lost. And yet what seems like a light at the end of the tunnel turns out merely to be a distraction, lacking substance. There is no way out. There is no winning. Only slowly losing as the fleeting light fades.
I encourage you to embrace the darkness and see where it takes you. Just lock your bedroom door, disconnect your internet, grab a piece of paper, and on it break every law known to man. Show no one, and destroy all evidence. Discovering that level of freedom and safety, I think, is the way out of this debacle.
Well, it's really dark in there haha. I think, adding a little bit of luminosity would help. I managed to found an interruptor and it felt great. But I have to admit the wobbly mouse movement got me a little sick. Is there more to discover in the labyrinth? :)
there isn't anything else to find, tho there's a chance for a bug to happen which causes the game to start spawning tons of lamps not attached to walls or inside eachother, i don't know why it happens but i wouldn't have time to fix it anyway.
I'll maybe try to play it one night? I'm trying to play it now in an office and can't see anything, although it feels like I am not really moving. I'm confused lol
I don't know if it's a bug but the mouse controll is weird. Why did take mouse contoll from a flight simulator and added it to a first person game?) None the less I liked it. Well done!
Thanks for the rating!, the mouse controls are a result of the fact that websites aren't allowed to mess with your cursor position, the downloadable version has normal controls.
I tried the linux download and it seemed to work the same as the web one. Not really sure how to play :/
Just got done playing around with it. Looks like you're "stationary" (i.e. not rotating) when your cursor is at a central location. Any deviation from that central location sets you rotating, endlessly, in the direction of deviation (with greater magnitudes causing faster rotation). It is a very challenging control system, but there IS a logic to it!
