Though initially confusing, lacking any sort of instruction, I was able to extrapolate enough information from the gif (and of course, the description), to proceed and have a really good time with this.
The Pico8 aesthetic is crisp, colorful, and appealing. The sound effects are fitting, and that the score UI disappears when the player goes behind it is a nice quality-of-life feature. All it's missing is some music!
Very well done; would reveal the dark secret of the singularity again :D

The graphics are good
That was actually quite impressive, imo. Wouldn't hurt to say what your control layout is, though. I was stuck on the first screen for a bit.
