Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
We wanted to tell a story of a little girl learning from the older and wiser, being saved and growing thanks to the generosity of the Monk. In turn, when the Monk starts to lose strength and struggle through the difficult journey, our Lotus Girl steps up and puts what she learnt to use to make a path for him, as he did her.
Generosity is about giving without expecting to receive. It is the generosity of the old man in spending the time to teach the child that leads to her growing as a person. As in kind, the girl gives back to her mentor in his time of need.

This game is so charming~ Our game also has a character swap mechanic (albeit not as incorporated as yours since we ran out of time), so that was fun to see and tied in nicely to the theme! The artstyle is really pleasing, I especially like the lotus girl’s design. Although it’s a bit jarring between the two characters — one being colored and having no idle animation whereas the other had no color and had an idle animation playing, not sure if that’s intentional for the theme or due to the time constraints.
I did also find a bug in the second area where the lotus girl got stuck if she went to the very edge of the tree before the old man could lower the branch. Once he lowered the branch, the girl was stuck in the air and couldn’t move at all, so I had to restart the game.
Aside from that, this a neat experience, kudos to your team!
Thank you!! We started very late so we couldn't implement everything we wanted to, but I'm glad we could showcase at least some of the brilliant art Sana made.
The character swapping made pathing very annoying since we need to make surfaces different for each. I have an idea that should fix it, but we ran out of time for it.
The intro concludes with humorous timing. The old man’s height is apparent, though players may overlook the way he pulls on hanging vines, or perhaps fail to discover it. There exists a prompt for “switching characters”, but not for how they are used.
Aside from gameplay, the visual design and animation is a high point.
Additionally, it is impressive for puzzle design to be handled by one person- the artist, no less. Well done.
Thank you for the thoughtful review, Jewel!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
The gameplay was tricky to implement so we couldn't smooth out all the issues like the prompts.
The puzzle design was by me, but Sana gets full credit for all the assets and animations and being the reason the game can stand on its own.
Very cute characters, I love the style! The music is also very smooth:) Good jooooob
Love the character design and the integration of the mechanics and art styles! Really lovely experience!!
Cool I love the character design and how they use their different abilities to help each other, the story is also attractive. Great job!
PS - I would love to have you reviewing my game too, thanks!
Absolutely adorable art style and music with a great moral story! This game has the cutest main character in this jam, from what I have played so far!
Thank you for your kind words Manojo! I'm the artist on the team (had a mishap with listing members, oops!)
Thank you! I really wish we got to showcase all of the art we had, because there was so much more! We'll make a blog post with more of it when we can!
Fully credit to Sana for how beautiful it all was!
LETS GO!!
