Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
What would you do if your home was under attack? How far would you go to protect your child?
In Fatherhood, generosity goes beyond resources—it’s about sacrificing one’s own safety, comfort, and desires for the sake of another. Through the father’s journey with his blind daughter, players are invited to explore what it truly means to give, even when there’s nothing left to give but love, protection, and hope.
Even in the harsh realities of war, players can choose to let go of their own needs to care for others—whether it’s comforting their daughter or helping a wounded stranger. These choices shape the emotional arc and ultimate outcome of the story.
The hand-holding and hugging mechanics emphasize the father’s ongoing emotional generosity toward his blind daughter—offering comfort, security, and connection in a collapsing world. These small yet meaningful gestures reflect how love and care can endure, even when everything else is falling apart.
Fatherhood is a 2.5D side-scrolling war adventure where players become a father who must navigate through the dangers of war, willing to sacrifice everything to save his blind daughter.

This game has been in development since 2020 with a demo, kickstarter, youtube channel, and website. It received multiple nominations in 2022/2023 from several indie organizations.
While I admire its accomplishments and representation of the theme of generosity, this is not meant for a gamejam in 2025.
A release date of February 2025. This cannot be interpreted in any other way.
Good 👍🏻
The upload date for the demo is Feb 9th, was this made during the gamejam?
Your game looks incredible! But did you make it during this game jam? It looks like it's been in development for quite some time - it's even got a Kickstarter.
