I love a good rhythm game.
The menus are amazing, love the fact that the font changes once you click on them. However you good sir are missing heavy riff 4 :)
Love the choice of music. As was mentioned it could use different scoring system, based on accuracy.
And maybe some combo system perhaps.
Very much enjoyed it overall.
You have done a fantastic job with the menus they look amazing, was really cool that i could preview the songs before going in and luckily the music taste was fantastic so had a blast with all the tracks!
The hit registration seemed pretty good although i don't think the missed hits were punishing enough and i did manage to easily 100% it.
As other people said a better scoring system for that would have been great.
Other than that a really fun game!
I really enjoyed this game, it is very unique. I like how you mapped out the beats to the key presses so the player can play long with the background song. ( I also like heavier music so that helped ;) ). The backgrounds were appealing and were well contrasted to the big notes, making them stand out.
The only thing I'd suggest adding would be a scoring system based on how accurate you were with hitting the notes, such as "perfect=10" - "good=5" - "ok=2" etc. I think that would make it a lot more challenging. Other than that though this is one of the games that stood out to me and played a few times. Nice work :))
that was the original idea but AGK wouldent let me use that scoring system
Very nice one button concept. I liked the fact that missed hits were recorded, i'm unsure whether they affected score but its great if they do.
The margin of error was rather large for hitting notes, a score system based on how precise you are would be good. I also felt like the notes weren't intended to be hit in time with the music, they felt a bit seperate and for a rhythm game I feel like this is important.
Otherwise, great concept and great game.
see my reply further down to access the in game dev log i hit many walls making this due to picking AGK as the engine should have just used unity. Im glad this is done now though and once this tdemo bit is over and we move onto something else this project is going on my storage drive never to be touched again unless i remake it in unity as the AGK engine really isnt fitted out for rythm games
You've done a great job with the Menu and the music! I'd recommend making the circle that registers the notes to be smaller if possible so that it's a little more skill based.
Nice simple rythm game. I liked the guitar hero sort of aspect and the fonts and style was appropriate. It was using appmaker which I havent seen before but it seemed to work out well and you did a good job. Very simple and fun. Hit detection was a bit debatable but overall it was a good game (And you actually submitted one) :D
Love the game, I've always had a soft spot for rhythm games.
The only issue i found was hit detection to be a bit rough when multiple hit indicators were stacked on top of each other.
This could also work with a system that gives you more points on how perfectly you hit the timings, like most games of this nature.
Other than that though, its a great game.
yes some notes are stacked very closely on top of each other and also yes that was the system i originally wanted to implement for the points system however there is no way of getting that data in AGK so i opted for this system instead. If your interested in hearing a little more about issues / problems i encountered while developing this check out the comprehensive Dev log you can access it by accessing the secret menu in game by holding B + L on the title screen then typing "fomod" into the prompt without the quotes then head into the options menu and click on the newly revealed input code box and type in "full dev log" without quotes and the game will play a video of the 20 min dev log. This counts as 1 of the 3 easter eggs hidden in the game but this one i am willing to give away
Good job!
Honestly I can't thank of much to say for this one, it's a simple idea that works well with the one input, and it seems you've already thought about higher difficulties and multiple songs, so you've got that covered.
One thing is that the hits don't necessarily feel like they match to the song to me, which is understandable and probably would just require more practice making levels. It might also be a good idea to give slight audio feedback on a hit / miss.
Also, and this is a very minor point, the space bar can be a bit awkward to hit multiple times quickly due to it's size (at least in my experience, maybe I'm just weird), so I would recommend changing the input to something else, maybe mouse clicks.
Congrats on finishing the game!
yeah the beat matching is way off but had to hardcode everything for this game as it was made in AGK so no visual editor and noting up tracks in code takes long... xD find my reply on how to access the dev log in the game to hear a lot of the issues i hit with AGK wish i had just used unity would have been quicker and easier and i wouldent have had to cut difficulty's, high scores or all the other tracks could have had it all done.
