Really cool game, but sometimes I could jump as many times as I wanted if I kept pressing left click.
a really cool game i enjoyed the mechanics with the swinging though the attacking by prssing E has no animation so i was a bit confused and the fdact that you dont die if you fall off the map other than this a really great attempt at the requirments and an an enjoyable game
Wow.... I had a lot of fun with this game. It almost reminded me of the game speed runners with the swinging which I loved. The art and animation was really good too, I would say that if you were to improve this game I would have it so you die when falling down the big hole, I'm not sure if it was just me but I would just fall endlessly. Other then that well done and keep up the good work.
This game was really enjoyable to play, amazing animations, and really well thought out.
The only critique, would be to add death when you fall down a hole. I just had an endless falling, and could easily come back up, and continue playing the game. Other than this, this game was amazing. Nice work!
The pixel art is fantastic, the whole game is very visually appealing. The music fits well and the sound effects are a nice touch. Movement feels responsive and the swinging mechanic works well. I do think some kind of visual feedback is needed for the players E attack although from your comment it sounds like this was planned.
My only critique would be that the world feels a little bit sparse, the characters/objects are quite small on the screen - bullets in particular feel tiny and hard to dodge because of it. However saying this the miscellaneous details like barrels, cacti and rocks really help to make the level feel less monotonous.
Overall an excellent submission, really well done!
Love this game! smooth movement, the swinging is amazing and adds a whole new approach to platform games. Variety of enemies and a good, fitting soundtrack.
The game should reset after you fall of the edge though, and the whip range is too short which makes attacking enemies a little tougher (especially the damned flying guy).
Great game overall! Well done!
Love this!!! Amazing idea that was really well executed. Really smooth and would pay for this if it was for sale.
Only thing I can critique is that when you fall off the edge you are reset. I kept falling down and nothing happened, with my character still being able to move around. Including some kind of collision zone there that sends the character back to the beginning/ to a checkpoint would raise the game just that little bit higher.
Overall, phenomenal game that worked extremely well. Nice one.
Good game! I liked the pace of of it and the music was good, as well as the art!
The mechanics where nicely unique. A lot like mario but with some different features which i liked.
I did find a few glitches and things i think could maybe have been improved. The hearts for your lives could have been a little smaller. When I first started playing i didnt realise i was being killed and just though i was randomly respawning.
Another thing is that when i fell and didnt grapple, i didnt die and was able to run along the floor, oof screen and under the map.
But overall a very good submission!
A very impressive submission, visually appealing with decent animations and tight controls. Whip took a little getting used to, but once understood you were able to move in very unique ways. Enemies felt challenging but not unfair. Teaching players crucial mechanics and not leaving it up to them to figure out how the game works was very nice.
The 'E' attack felt pretty much useless and almost inconsistent at times. It was far easier to just jump on their heads. The difficulty progression was a bit steep, as some of the enemies who can attack from any angle (even above them). I think it was fine for the most part, but consider your level design and how you can get players to master a skill.
Overally, this is a great game, given the timescale. Obviously it would have been nice to see more levels, but perhaps that would have been out of scope. I think with some expansion and focus on level design, you have something that could easily be put onto a marketplace. Well done!
Thank you for your review Charlie.
About the "E" attack we have a working animation for it, but somehow it stopped working in the finished product.
Wow this game is so good!!!! I love the soundtrack and the art - it really fits well together!! The addition of different mechanics such as shooting and grappling was a nice touch! Congrats :)
Enjoyed the whipping around aspect of the game and the general theme, mastering the whip seems to be a bit difficult considering some of the hidden health placed around the levels but with the addition of being able to double jump made it a bit easier to get to the harder to reach areas. Would've been good with some more verticallity though, also got a bit frustrated at how big the small/crawling cyborgs are but otherwise fun experience
A good game, the overall artwork and music seem to fit well together. The sound effects of the game were a nice touch and I loved that there was the inclusion of multiple levels. The use of the whip was a fun and nice touch to the game, doging bullets and using it strategically to land on enemies heads was fun. One thing that could be improved though is the length of the overall game, it was a bit short.
A great game with a suitable theme linking towards the title of dusk with a western type scene, loved the sound effects that made it feel like I was there as sound effects always stand out to me within games so great job on that, loved that you had different levels so that the game would not just end after one, only thing I would say is maybe within the levels when you drop down into a crater you die instead of being able to use the whip to get back up, but I loved the purpose of the whip being able to swing, as this made the game for me even more enjoyable, overall great game, artwork and sounds!
