Game was great, the atmosphere and everything but I did get stuck on level trying to complete it since the hitbox was quite hard and one of the platforms I couldn't jump which I don't know if it was intended to be that way or not

Grate game. The art style was my favourite overall. Grate job.

Really good game with a great atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and I like the unique look to the sprites. It plays quite well.

Though I did seem to have an issue with collisions with enemies and walls. Enemies that were to be standing still on a platform would also vibrate. Very nice submission though.

Developer(+1)

Hiya thanks for the feedback :) in terms of the vibrating enemies i thought it made it look more creepy in places but i totally see where you’re comin from that it could be seen as a bit off :)

I really love the ambience and the artstyle!

Really love the art style in this game! The creature changing as you progress through the levels was a really nice touch and help add a sense of shock as you progress through the game. The hotboxes of some of the enemies was a big off and i found myself dying without touching anything and in some areas i couldn't jump at all (not sure if it was intentional) but overall a really nice looking game with a solid idea in play! Well done :)

The spooky atmosphere was really good! I really enjoyed trying this game. The controls at first confused me, since I assumed it would be WASD to move and jump, turned out to be Arrow Keys!

The jump sound was a little annoying after a while, but other than that, this was a really nice game to play.

I love the spooky them and atompshere within this game as well as the overall art design of the levels, characters and animations, reminds me of Microbian and Limbo. I enjoyed the overall gameplay traversing through the multiple levels and how they got more difficult, love that little bit of lore aswell, though it could be expanded upon. Solid base for a platformer and good game. One critique is the level design it could do with a bit more variety as it felt the same as previous levels in some places. Overall great game!

I really liked this game! I love scary games and this had a very spooky, ominous atmosphere.

There was a mini glitch that i experienced where i just floated above everything after jumping but it was only a minor occurrence. I also found the jumping sound a little random and somethings annoying but overall really good game and very fun to play!

Also agree with one of the below points about narrative playing a more important part i the final piece

Loved the creepy vibe I instantly got when I loaded the game and really enjoyed the audio that went alongside . Really sold the horror theme you had going.

Also liked that it was simple yet challenging at the same time, such as with the swinging blocks.

Some things I noticed is that the jumping seemed a bit sticky in the third level as I couldn't jump up onto the second platform after the swinging block,. Another thing is that in the same level I couldn't seem to jump over the first enemy after this jumping part as I was just getting sent to the beginning of the level as if I ha died. Possibly making the enemies a little smaller to make passing them at certain points more achievable?

All in all though really nice game with a really nice feel to it. Well done.

I like the concept of a horror-platformer, with games like Limbo being a key favourite of mine. The animation and character design was very nice, by having a simple art style you were able to evoke a creepy feel and environment.

The enemies' hitboxes were very unforgiving and the level design was a bit rudimentary, devolving into just jumping on enemies and getting through the game. This game felt like something that would have a narrative or story attached to it. Whilst there was a background, it wasn't explored in any significant capacity. If you are going to have a story and a game with little gameplay, that is entirely fair and there are a ton of examples where this has been the case (again, Limbo is a great one). But you need to actually have a narrative to go along with, it's no use writing a beginning and then saying "oh he's forgiven himself" at the end.

I can see the sort of game you were going for, perhaps it was a bit out of scope of what you could do within your timeframe. It seems like an early prototype for a longer form narrative horror game, which is ok. Consider what you can get done in the time you are given and how best to get your idea across in a small-scale game. A good attempt, overall.

Hiya, thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the animation and character design - I can definitely understand where you're coming from with regards to getting across the narrative. I think the main issue was the time constraint as we'd planned a narrative that worked with the enemy design then realised it was too late to delve deeper into the story and get it across to the player hence the long description box aha :D. Hopefully , with a longer deadline more time could be spent on getting across a story more effectively. Totally agree with taking timescale into consideration for the next game :D.

As a horror fan, I love the look of this game. It has such a creepy and dark tone to it and the characters and background look so good. Also the character animations were done really well, especially the jumping animation. The swinging pole obstacle was also really cool and quite unique. Good job!

Ay thanks! :D

Ahhhh I don't know where to put this now so I'll just comment it here: controls --> LEFT ARROW (LEFT) RIGHT ARROW (RIGHT) UP ARROW (JUMP) ESC (QUIT)

hope ya enjoy :)))))

Really liked the limbo vibes it gave me while playing

ay why thank you! :)

This game really stood out to me and I really liked the creepy and darkened effects and the music combined with this really made it stand out to me, I loved how the player looked as well and the useful text to inform how to play, one problem that did occur when I played it was that I could not work out how to jump and when pressing space I still was not able to jump, I would of liked to of explored the game further but did reload and keep trying to see if jump would work or find other ways but I could not find out how, I still think this is a great game overall! so well done!

Developer(+1)

ah thanks for the feedback we should probably put somewhere that it's the arrow keys to primarily move with the up arrow to jump :D

Submitted(+1)

Wow, you've absolutely nailed the creepy atmosphere, the character sprites in particular are fantastic and really well animated. The music, visuals and enemies work really well together (even if I did have to turn up my brightness!). I also love the text within the level giving you hints, and the swinging poles add a good amount of challenge.

Usually floaty controls are a negative for a platformer but I think it works well for this style of game. I did feel that the enemy hitboxes were a bit unforgiving at times but you get used to it. Another suggestion would be to make the main menu text stand out from the background a little more, and that the sound effect for jumping is a bit disconnected from the music.

An impressive game with a unique theme, really well done!

Ayyyyyy thanks I probably should have checked the brightness and stuff before the upload - should probably have tested it with the lights on aha thanks for the feedback :DDD
