Nice roguelike. The controls are unusual but that is ok. Initially I thought that the rooms are somewhat connected but they are all random it seems. Sometimes it's impossible to get the first booze, but after a while it get's trivial.

Thank you for feedback! Yep, there is quite a lot randomness. Every level is procedurally generated, but the spawning logic depends on how deep in the cave the player currently is. The balancing is quite unfinished but I managed to play the game through twice, so I think it's good enough.

Yep, x for down. Do you think that s for down would be better? Since there are eight directions the player can move, I think there is no obvious choices for the controls.

I think s for down is more intuitive

Well, that might be true. My friend just told me that he was killed by a monster when he pressed 's' and actually meant to go down.
