I liked how you could play both sides, and the base concept is pretty decent. I think however that the gameplay was too simple to remain interesting over the whole night. As the boy, I would just move the flashlight up and down as fast as I could since there wasn't really much else I could do.
I liked this. I think it could be refined. It reminded me of boogeyman or frosty nights. However e controls were really slow for the child but fast for shadow. Some of the shadows were not affected by the light and some seemed to be affected when the light was pointing in the wrong direction.
But the art was amazing, I enjoyed playing it. The music was decent and atmospheric.
Good work.
Very interesting arcade-like experience and straightforward use of the theme, I love its simplicity and art style.
Nice idea. When you play as the boy the shadows get stuck behind the dresser and the desk so it makes it really easy to zap them with the light once they get unstuck. Also the clock is broken? When I started to play it started the timer at 20:00 :'D
I'm aware that some shadow stay stuck but I haven't got more time to fix the move of the AI.
Timer start at 20:00 because the kid is doing to sleep at 20:00 (8 am). And end at 7:00, that's intended to represent realistic times hours. (Game is 5 min long)
Ah ok. I thought it was just a normal timer so I got confused!
I will remember that I should make it more clear when I use hours instead of regulard timer.
I got a little confused at first too about the time. I think if you put a graphic of an alarm clock behind the time, it might help fix the confusion. I realized eventually what the timer meant.
This game was very simple in its execution; I found the Boy gameplay too easy though; Simply going from left to right in a fast pace was all that was needed to win the game, and so got boring very fast.
The shadow gameplay was slightly more challenging, but with some pattern control; the rest would fall into the place.
I enjoyed the concept of the story very much however! Well done on making this game in just 1 week !
