Which songs are your submission based on?
The 8 songs were:
Little Stabs at Happiness - Fujiya & Miyagi
A verse of the song is described and mentioned as we watch Ida's car from the balcony.
When Doves Cry - Prince
It is the main theme from the other dimension.
Witches - Alice Phoebe Lou
You can listen to part of the song on the walkman in the attic.
Slide Tackle - Japanese Breakfast
I slipped in a piece of sheet music to play the bass part on the synthesizer
Kwon Eunbi - Glitch
I put an extract of the chorus and the video clip on the computer in the bedroom of Linus, the protagonist.
True Feeling - Galantis
I used the band members' names and nationalities (sweden) as inspiration for the plot's location.
Heaven - The Walkmen
The magnets on the refrigerator form the chorus of the song, which tells the story of the protagonist and Ida, his former girlfriend.
Sediment - Pinback
The subject of the song, and of the video, is the existence of extraterrestrials who would come to Earth, so I adapted my story in that direction.

This was a cool and eerie piece with an unexpected twist. I liked finding not just the messages but the other backgrounds; overall a very interesting vibe. By the way, it seemed like I couldn't click on examinable objects in previous areas once the second "looking" mechanic was introduced, was that intentional?
Thanks for playing!
Yeah, I deactivated the ability to click on objects from the moment you get the talisman, mainly because some of the text is light, and would have clashed with the weird atmosphere. I would have had to make an alternative text for all the clickable objects, but I didn't have much time left to finish the game, so I made this somewhat radical and frustrating choice, once the shuffle comp jam is finished I'll probably make some changes to improve it all, and make the ending less abrupt.
Ohh, I see! I didn't find it too frustrating, as I'd examined most objects before this happened--just wanted to make sure I hadn't encountered a bug. (:
woah this is really good. really impressive what you've done with decker and such a strong atmosphere. this will haunt me
Very unsettling, haunting atmosphere in this game. I would consider adding a trigger/content warning for depression and/or suicidal ideation. As someone with clinical depression, I found this really upsetting to play because of the main character's attitude and comments.
Otherwise, extremely creative use of the songs in such a small space. The end is deeply unsettling.
Hi! thanks for the time you took to play and for your feedback. my intention was to play on nostalgia; melancholy, boredom, and leave the rest to interpretation. i hesitated and thought that adding a warning might provoke more anxiety in anticipation. i'm sorry if the atmosphere of the game made you uncomfortable, i'll try to formulate a warning that isn't anxiety-provoking but that captures the particular atmosphere of the game.
Take care!
I enjoy the mixture of the songs and have enjoyed the game as well. A bit tense and mysterious.
