So, not sure where the soccer was, where the recycling was. The game play is sluggish, enemy spawns too fast. No soccer ball.
Well since the theme is anything related to soccer, we just made it so that you score the robots into the "recycling" goals in order for their metals to be recycled into something else.
If by sluggish you mean the game runs slow, that could vary from computer to computer, it was play tested on a laptop and a high end gaming pc and ran fine on both but there could be other underlying issues that we don't know about if it is running sluggish for you. If you mean the gameplay loop is slow, well, it was supposed to be fast paced, jumping from end to end beating the robots and throwing things at them but I guess that's that, I myself thought it was fast paced so I'm not sure how we would tackle that one.
And the soccer ball was the friends we made along the way.
I have a very high end computer and have no trouble with playing other games. The controls are sluggish and not very intuitive. In other words, the response time for the controls is slow, and they are counter to what a game player is used to. Your spawn rate on the mobs is way out of line and seem to have nothing to do with soccer.
And...
You still don't have a soccer ball no matter how much you try and spin it
alright, I understand
Well I'm not sure if it is a direct requirement to have a soccer ball in the game as long as the game relates to soccer somehow. Since it is said that the game needs to be anything related to soccer, we have nets :), I think that relates to soccer enough?
I agree that the spawn rate may be a bit high but it is not game breaking.
Thanks for the feedback we will be sure to keep such things in mind in future projects.
1. The soccer is the dead enemies you grab and throw into the nets, it gives many points and the multiplier helps a lot after you killed a lot of them.
2. Recycling is the same thing.
3. I am not sure what you mean by sluggish, enemies do spawn fast, but you have explosive barrels to throw at hordes of them and you can also click the barrels and they explode in 1 second.
4.You are supposed to run when you are low on hp, and find heals. The soccer ball is the enemy. The jam theme said, "anything related to soccer, get creative."
5. Thanks for the feedback 👍
I love killing the opposing team and recycling them for points >:). I like the rag dolls
haha, I'm glad you like you =)
I got a highscore of 6235. However, on my second try I got 11165. I had a very difficult time trying to punch the enemies into the net because they came in packs and I couldn't get out of there at times.
My 3rd playthrough my score was 684400. I noticed that I could hit enemies from a distance and I can hit the barrels to kill enemies and launch them up in the air. And obviously, because of the health pickup that kept spawning and falling into the level.
Now I did kill a bunch of enemies which is great.
The beat-em up style of gameplay while including the nets for kill multiplier increase (as if I'm playing soccer to kill these enemies into the net) was just outstanding.
The aesthetics of the game wasn't too bad, but using objects as greyboxes isn't a bad idea to make sure your core mechanics are functional and useful for this game.
I did love the up-beat music playing as I was fighting the bad guys though.
I would have liked it if there was a soccer ball implemented and used as some kind of explosive (sort of like the barrels that launched enemies in the air) that kills enemies or powerups that help the player (and maybe punish the enemy too not including killing them, like slow speed, damage loss, etc.).
Also, I nearly forgot to mention this but that start button in the main menu where it was bigger than the quit button and highlighted in red is neat design. Obviously, you probably wanted the player to notice where the play button was and placing a bigger emphasis on that button is a great idea.
Thank you very much for the feedback brother.
