You are kidding, this faction board is just so pleasing to look at! And your theme is sooo sweet, I def wanna help all these canines work together as a team!
Three departments that you need to pivot between is a super awesome design that I haven't seen played around with before. Really glad you've made agency and entanglement an integral part of your factions design itself. Rather than giving them a points engine and putting a method of entanglement on top of it.
Like I said, so happy to see a faction that prioritizes different forms of aggression. Letting them deal more than the max of 3 rolled hits is also a creative way to let them do that. It definitely takes a lot of buildup to get there so I do think it's pretty balanced. Imagine being able to deal up to 6 hits from the get-go, yikes.
I love how each blurb for each department seems like it was written by a member OF the department, and each one stresses how THEY are the most important of the departments. You can definitely even see the cracks between their alliances, really a great job of storytelling within the faction itself here. I'd even anticipate a follow up faction to these guys, where in a woodland they've won... They've finally turned on each other.
Ugh I'm just absolutely in love with this, interacts so much with others and gives opponents SO MUCH to interact with in return. Would love to be involved in a playtest on the future. You've really cooked here.
Love the engine building feel of this. I've never played with a fan faction before, but this is the first one I'd consider introducing as a nice alternative to cats while filling a very similar table niche. The one rule I'm hesitant about is pack tactics, and mostly how, if I'm understanding correctly, when attacking with at least two of each department, you have a 75% chance to deal 6 hits. Whether or not that situation is difficult to engineer, that seems, in my opinion, a little too swingy, especially since this faction can easily do multiple moves into multiple battles per turn. My proposed change while keeping with the flavour would be this: "In battle, each department can only deal a maximum of two hits. When all three departments attack in battle, deal an extra hit." This keeps with the theme, while still encouraging you to "swarm" your opponents with multiple types of dogs. One department present can only deal two hits, while two departments present can deal three, and all departments present can deal four. Again, I love this concept, and this is my vote for my favourite faction of the whole jam. Just thought I'd throw out some unsolicited advice from someone who hasn't even played the faction yet :P keep up the great work!
Bowow! I love how interestingly complex you've managed to make this faction and keep the board so clean an readable. Bravo on that. The internal strife with Coup d'etat adds a wonderful feeling of managing a barely working governmental system that may swarm you (hehe) with differing opinions. Bravo!
Hi. Just tested your faction. Its really fun. With a lot of decision making. With only one game cannot say anything about balancing. Did not feel that much the "swarm" but a clear contestant to enter my playgroup faction pool.
I have rule question. Does the recruiting action of each departement only recrut warriors of that departement ? I played it that way but wanted to be sure.
Hi, thanks for trying out my faction! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Currently, the intention is that any recruit action allows you to place any warrior type. I had considered making it department specific, but I was worried it might bottleneck the recruiting power of the Labor department a bit too much. However, if I continue to develop this faction, its defintiely something I'll think about.
Thanks a lot for you answer.
In my only game I used labor derpartement as cannon fodder and it seemed thematic xD
You had me at railroads.
Really like the three departments and how you have to choose how to balance them. Would be really interested to see how they play!
Also I’m glad you pointed out which department is clearly the most important 😉
