A few rules questions

I had a couple of questions about the rules of this jam:

- Are the voting categories for round 1 also: Visual & Audio Design; Gameplay; Story; and Interpretation of the Theme

- The eligibility criteria require you to have an email to contact the team by, a German bank account and an official residence in Germany. When and how do each of these need to be provided to the jam hosts?

Thank you in advance for any clarification, I look forward to participating in this jam.

Thank you for reaching out with your questions—we're happy to clarify!

For the first voting round in the community, the only criterion is the overall impression: Which games do you think are really great overall? The categories you mentioned (Visual & Audio Design, Gameplay, Story, and Interpretation of the Theme) come into play later in the process.

Regarding the eligibility criteria:

  • We ask for an email address at the time of submission, but it will only be used to contact teams in case they make the shortlist or win a prize. Otherwise, we won’t use it.
  • A German bank account and official residence in Germany are only required if a prize is awarded. In that case, we will contact the winners separately via email to arrange everything.

We’re looking forward to having you in the jam! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Thank you for the clarification.

Just to confirm that I understand correctly, by my current understanding, each person who joined the jam will be able to rank other games 1-5 stars, but instead of a usual system with multiple rating categories, they rank the games via a single rating. Is this correct?

Hello TollGnoll,

our community voting is done in a single category: Overall (Shortlist). Voting is open to all submitters, which—according to experienced Game Jam hosts and itch’s recommendations—is the clearest and safest voting method.

If you're part of a team, we encourage you to sit down together, play the games, and discuss your collective stance. The submitter of your game will then cast the vote on behalf of your team. Once the shortlist is determined, our jury will award the prizes in our various categories.

Greets from munich!
