  • Excellent game!! I didn't want to stop playing. So much great stuff going on here. Everything about it is top notch. Great models all around. I loved how the player creates the logic for the robot. I loved that players can build the robot with the different modules. The puzzles were challenging and got me thinking along with a lot of trial and error. The music and sound effects were also great. The only thing I wanted to see at one point was what the distance sensor was reading for distance. I didn't really know what a distance of 5 looked like compared to 1 at the start of my playthrough and I think that would have been helpful. Seriously though, this was such a great submission. Could even be a great way for people to learn about programming logic. I would love to see this game be developed even more!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
yes

Summarise your game!
CodeBot is a puzzle game about building a robot and scripting its behaviour to get it to a specific destination relative to its environment.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
One crucial element is missing from our game -- the robot's code. That part is left to the player. The player is the weapon. Their logic, creativity, and strategy defines the robot's behaviour.

I had so much fun with this! Reminded me of Robots with Lego!

Really good! Once getting the hang of this it was really rewarding. I completely agree with the other comments on getting this game into the educational space.

Reminds me of the robotics competitions I did in school, without having to deal with Arduino. I like it! If I were you, I would try to poke the education system and if there would be interest. I could see this be a pretty good contract if they implement it in their curriculum.

Only comment I have is I feel the LED and eraser icons don't really match the rest.

This so impressive!!! I love this game and what you guys accomplished here! I could so easily see this being turned into a full Besieged-esk game, and I do think it would this would be such a fun way to teach programming. This is an awesome game and especially for a jam. Great work!

Besiege was definitely one of the games we used as a reference. Very glad to hear you enjoyed our game! Curious to see what you came up with

This was such a neat concept! I definitely struggled with figuring out how to balance the robot, but I was able to pass the level just by having it slide around on the ground with minimal code block, which was really funny. The tutorial helped me from the coding side of things, but definitely would love to see some physics/engineering instruction as well in the future. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback! We already have some ideas how to simplify and expand the coding and to make the tutorial more in-depth, fun and interactive.

A nice game that makes you think in a fun, not tiring way. I liked it! :]

Thanks a lot!

I didn't have time to dig really deep here, but obviously you built something really cool here! I love the whole idea behind being able to, in a game, do block coding to finish a stage. It is lacking some UI to help understand things, maybe a tutorial... but I wouldn't expect in a game jam demo, either.

Appreciate it! There is a tutorial button in the scripting window. Looking forward to playing your project
