  • This is a nice little game! It reminds me of a flash game I used to play as a kid. I like that you have a multitude of enemy types and different towns/backgrounds to change things up. It feels nice to kill the slimes and collect their souls! I think it would have been nice to see a little bit of creativity in the monster design or maybe the options that the player has. For example, maybe there are slimes that move slow for a bit, then FAST. Or maybe slimes that are hard to kill but once you do, they explode and kill all the slimes around them. Or split into 2 smaller slimes. On the player side, I think it could be nice if at the end of each round you could place a trap or something on the map to help you out and give the player some strategic choices. Overall I think the game was fun! It has a nice core to it that can definitely be expanded upon. The basics are solid and fun, and that is a really really good start!

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Controls are simple with just the mouse being the movement and the left click is how you interact with buttons.
Mechanics are similar to tower defense games or Survivor games and all you need to do is keep the cursor over a slime to damage it. You must prevent the slimes from reaching the settlement.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You are a sword that is tasked with defending several locations from increasingly difficult slimes.

The game ran smoothly, and the art that the game had is good! I think something that confused me was the level bar at the top. It had me thinking there were going to be upgrades, when instead it was just a new wave. I think a larger variety of slimes with different attacks and designs would be nice to keep the gameplay more engaging. I also have to mention that I really like how the main menu looks, and the difficulty progression is done really well! Nice job on the submission!

Cute little slimes, and I like that it required "aim", which is something I don't see a lot in survivor style games. The game play was a good blend of simple and addicting. I kind of appreciate that it had an actual ending, because I enjoyed the sense of victory instead of just having to lose, though that's hypocritical since mine is endless, heh. I also thought the music was a nice fit!

This is such a short and sweet little game! The slimes is very cute, the gameplay is engaging, the core loop is simple to understand, and its fun! Good job! I'd say the game gets a bit unfair towards the end of the game as there is no way you can defeat each and every slimes before they get to your castle, but at least the game ends shortly after that! I think the game would really benefit with upgrades between waves and it would be a wonderful little tower defence game in no time.

Anyway, good job!

This game is reminiscent of more oldies. Super simple target trainer style game. Not much to say other than I really like your SFX. I don't really understand the progression system if there was supposed to be one. I think probably adding upgrades to the sword or your town to help defend against slimes would be a neat addition. It would allow the progression system to have a purpose. It's an endless game, so adding some kinda progression as you go along would give the player incentive to keep on playing!

10/0 gonna use this as my CSGO warm up!

I remember playing this game in a bit earlier stage and this version is great. Love that you improved the UI (although I would make XP even more transparent/smaller). Overall game gives vibes of old flash games - UI, SFX, gameplay and its not a bad thing. UI in general is great, loved the small animations and overall look. Somehow SFX sounds really satisfying. Unfortunately there are a few things I would like to have:
1. Player progression feels useless. I don't receive anything on lvl up, I don't get flashy lights/VFX or even a sound effect on lvl up. I think it would be better if lvl up would feel more special.
2. I saw in your GDD that you would like to have classes and abilities. I think that could indeed make a game a lot better & interesting. As of this stage its nice to kill a few slimes (which is satisfying) but thats about it.
3. Understandably its a prototype in two weeks but if you decide to continue, to me it would be nice to have some sort of goals or milestones to make my actions more meaningful (Settlement was saved popup/screen or some sort to mark that I have reached it and now can continue to next one).

I did enjoy the difficulty progression. I think it was done great. Slowly but surely monsters become stronger without extremes. All in all its a good game with room or growth so great job!
