  • GDD looks nice and clean, love the effort put into presentation on it. As for the gameplay, the Crossy Road inspiration works REALLY well and I like what you've done with that as a basis for your game. When I died (falling into the water) further up, I noticed that I was basically in a soft lock situation because I'd already collected all the moonstone at the start and couldn't travel very far without the darkness consuming me immediately. So when the player dies and teleports back to the beginning, you may need to regenerate some moonstone, perhaps? Or maybe I wasn't supposed to grab ALL of it on the first run. The only way I could find to reset properly was to refresh the entire browser tab. Good job on the game!

"AlcheMage: Crossy Shadows" is a top-down arcade game inspired by Crossy Road, providing a fun, and addictive experience, where players control an AlcheMage, progressing in a world covered in darkness, using the alchemical staff to bring light and to turn metallic rocks into gold to collect them.

The movement felt pretty good and snappy. I like that you can go sideways more (I would let the player go as much sideways as he wants and can), but the world generation felt really repetitive, I kept doing the same walking patterns over and over. The light going out is also a cool mechanic but it goes out way too quick. It should be something to punish overthinking players, not to make everyone have to speedrun the game.

And any game that lacks music, especially arcade games, misses a lot of engagement. Next time just add some royalty free track and some free sound effects. Your visuals are way too good to have a game this quiet!

Love the gameplay. it's engaging and fun.

> Maybe slowdown the rate of light diminishing a little bit.

Overall it's a solid game.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you loved the game!

Very simple controls and easy to grasp how to play.

I don't know if it was a bug but at one point the character was about to fall off the log and was leaning sideways but I managed to hop to the next platform before falling. When I got onto the platform, the character was at an angle nearly laying on their side but quickly corrected itself when I moved it again.

Some sort of checkpoint would lengthen my playtime since it's quite punishing when you die after making it really far and the glowing rocks don't respawn.

Developer

Thanks! Happy to hear you found the controls easy. That sideways lean sounds like an interesting bug, I'll look into it! The pickups not restarting upon death unfortunately due to a bug, and will be fixed right after the voting ends. Appreciate your feedback!

cute visuals and and the logs have fun physics

main issue I had was the light running out feeling very punishing since the pickups dont respawn and when you die at a point with logs you have to rely on chance to hit a log because they are barely visible in the shadow (unlike platforms)

Thanks! Glad you liked the visuals and log physics. The fix for the pickups not reseting on death issue will be out in the next version right after the voting ends.

I like the models a lot. Looks like a fun game, but i had to refresh the page in every death.

Thanks! Happy you liked the models and found it fun. The moonstone reset issue will be fixed right after the voting. Appreciate you sticking with it!

I love the style in the game, and there was a funny moment when I jumped off the fast log and hit a tile but the moment of my character knocked him to the side and into the water.

Developer

Thanks! Glad you loved the style and had a fun with the game!

Super cool style and it was so funny when I fell off the log! Only downside is the fact the lights don't respawn on death so I had to reload every try. Well done though!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed the style and had fun with the game! Super happy you gave it multiple tries despite of the moonstone reset issue! (will be fixed in the next version when voting ends)
