  • Very basic. Would have liked to see this a bit more complete. It's obvious you either ran out of time, or perhaps started late. Had a hard time figuring out where the start of each race was. I was also able to cheat the 2nd race by entering the start, going backwards, and crossing the finish line next to me. I admire the artistic effort. The boat's maneuverability was rough. Sliding all over the place. Felt like controlling the spaceship in the game Asteroid. Because of this, when I was offered the upgrade to go even faster in an already-difficult-to-control ship, I passed on the upgrade. The lack of border around the map allows for players to leave the map entirely and get lost. I would have like to hear some type of audio as well. With all that said, I encourage you to keep going! Expand on it, and make the game as good as it can be :D

Cool premise and very smooth drifting mechanic!

I had trouble understanding where the courses started, and ended, how I was being scored, and what the scimitar cursor was for.

I ended up just breaking out of the track boundaries and rippin' some shitties out on the open sea, which was very fun. Think a more open course and some sort of coin collection would go a long way.

Thanks for playing it.  The cursor was just for the pirate feel, it served no purpose while sailing the ship, I removed it later but it was after the jam ended. I think I'll clarify the start and end points a bit, so there's less confusion. The coin trails could be an interesting idea, may even lead to some kind of upgrade. I didn't want to seal the player in a box, and it felt more fun to not have a speed limit.

A fun one! I liked the premise, and also the fact that you can upgrade your ship. One suggestion though: a simplistic HUD would improve the experience. For example an arrow pointing towards the port, so that the player can't get lost when swimming outside of borders

Thanks for playing. I felt like  I didn't have enough data and things in general to display, and also added a reset position button. Although I am biased, as I know every minute detail about the game, so I didn't think it needs any explanation. The arrow could be a nice touch. Any other ideas to improve?

I had a lot of fun playing this. My favorite thing to do after getting the ship upgrade was pushing into a wall until I built up enough speed to go shooting off into the sunset at mach speed. 10/10

Glad you enjoyed it. Didn't have the heart to limit the max speed, as I felt it was more fun this way.

I wasn't sure what to expect with the initial starting screen, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Here are the notes I jotted down while playing

  • There is a bug, I did level 1 score, went to port, shop, and then my score got reset on level 1
  • I was able to fly off the map
  • Probably should add rock borders around the edge of the world
  • "Thrid" level should be, "Third"
  • A bug, I did the second race, then did the third race without going to the bar/shop and then the bar kept telling me to do the third race even after I did it.
  • Boat controls I felt like I didn't have enough flexibility in turning while moving forward and such, but that seems just like preference

Nice work though! Excited to see what is to come in the future.

Thanks for the feedback.  I know of most of these, however I didn't dare change anything in fear of breaking the game.

With that in mind:

- On the map, the scores are reset, and only updated when you finish that race. I'll look into it.

- I didn't want to limit the player with a speed cap or a closed off border, this is why I put in a reset system, placing the ship back to the place it entered the map.

- This typo was not in the code, so I didn't notice, you have a keen eye.

- I couldn't recreate the third  race thing, only when I got a score above 10. Please could you elaborate this one?

- The turning speed of the ship is toned down as you move faster (also indicated by the ship's sail animation)

Thanks. The upgrade was rushed a bit, just wanted to try changing the acceleration by dialog along with the sails colour.

I like the crisp art style, I'd recommend adding some drag to the boat and possibly base it off your drift angle, if drifting is what you're going for. Also, I escaped and kept accelerating to what I assume is supersonic.

Thanks for the feedback. Might add some drag to it, at this time it just slowly slows down. Thought about having a speed cap, but figured it was more fun this way, and it does no harm right now.
