  • Played through mindlessly- realized that doesn't work. Still was a bit confused as to how to recharge SER but ultimately think I'm just dogshit stupid. Still fun. Keep making cool things :D
  • I found this to be a nice implementation of the theme, and was a bit clever with how the lower your HP gets, some story of people figuring out how the malware works was neat. I also really liked the art style, as well as the music as they both give a nice retro vibe. However, it seems that spreading the infection to nearby tiles did not work. There also seemed to be no way to recover HP, and sometimes you just didn't lose HP traveling through uninfected nodes.

Did you include your Game Design Document in your downloadable files?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
Infect all computer devices in the network, "arrow keys" to move, "1" to infect the current tile, and "2" to spread the virus to nearby tiles.

move consumes -1 HP, sometimes there are 1 or more move directions that cost 0 HP
infect has a chance of failure, so be careful
spread requires a fully charged "SER" stat to work

visit the cyan icons (file, hood, question mark) to upgrade your malware, and find some mysteries

press H for more info about stats and mechanics
press S to control the music
press R to restart game

Did you remember to include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

I really enjoyed the game! I had a lot of fun playing. I would work to improve the user interface but I honestly really loved the rest of the aesthetic you had going!

This game is a bit complicated but rewards patience. The aesthetics are really awesome and the game controls well and seems to perform without any bugs. I think a few updates to UI and onboarding could turn this from a great game into a masterful game. Awesome!

If you put in the time, it's worth it, nice game logic, well done! The visuals are fitting for the theme, maybe you could have put it in the center of the screen, but it's not an issue. :)
The music is a real banger, nice one!

Really cool game and very stylish. Loved the art style and the music, and the gameplay, while it took a bit for me to understand it (and a dev telling me what to do haha), eventually it made sense and was elegantly done.

The teleport mechanic feels rather redundant, and it does not feel like you have nearly enough HP to beat it at base, even with powerups, but nothing a bit of number tweaking can't fix.

Overall, really solid entry into the jam, and I had fun with it, good job guys!

Hm. It took me quite a while to understand the ser stat and the spreading mechanic. I'm still not entirely sure I understand. Sometimes when I push 2, I teleport, sometimes I don't. The puzzle itself is very fascinating. I found I could bounce back and forth in my infected territory to build ser back up, but I struggled to manage my HP in a meaningful way, especially since it seemed like a very finite resource. This is an absolutely fascinating entry, I do hope that you continue developing this, with a little more conveyance and some time spent balancing it, I could see this being a really great game on its own

Developer

Thanks for playing, I have to rush the help text, so I may not explained very well, but if you want to know, if a tile has green lines that extends to another tile, that represent especial connections in the current tile, if you use the spread action (2) over these tiles, you will get tranported to one of this especial connection tiles.

I appreciate your feedback, I want to keep working on this game, and your comments help me to understand what it's need to keep or removed for a posible steam release no matter the results of the jam.

only big critique is it has a really high learning curve imo

other than that this is really cool!

i love the art style and the music!

also just the ui and text style looks so cool it makes me wanna spread malware (joking)

Developer

I understand, the early prototype was much easier, you just had to move to spread the virus, but after some feedback from a friend, I added more complexity to the infection mechanics, I may had added to much variables thou haha, I need to balance the game anyway, thanks for the feedback.
