Description
It's a soundtrack entirely of bells. Done in LMMS. I love this prompt. I wrote the second track quickly, and then decided to do all bells. I was also dangerously close to gamelan at that point, so I decided to have a Secret of Mana moment, which is where the third track came from. Indonesia is considered the morning of the world, so I let that track be the morning star, and the other two names fell into place.

The Twilight: What a cool idea to make a starry soundtrack completely out of bells! This first track has a very soothing ambience as if we are floating in space and are weightless just looking at the stars. I think it’s a really interesting choice that you held the 3rd constant throughout all the harmony shifts. Usually composers hold the root or the fifth for this type of effect, but by holding the 3rd, you have created a sort of elevated vibe that makes this track feel very hopeful and content.
The Night Star: I really like when the full bell ensemble is together toward the end of this one. In this one you use the root as the pedal note which grounds everything, especially with it being so low. There is a celebratory tone to this one that I really enjoyed!
The Morning Star: The addition of other percussion instruments adds new flavors to this soundtrack without taking away from the primarily bell theme. Using the whole tone pentatonic scale gives it an extra flare that sounds rather exotic. There were a couple places where I felt like I needed to turn the volume down compared to where I felt comfortable with the previous two tracks, but I still thought this was a really cool composition! I would love to go sit in a hot springs or something and listen to this while I relax. Great work on all of these and thank you for sharing!
Nice job! I love the use of the bells and mallet instruments. Also, the percussion that shows up in The Morning Star was great!
I like the choice to use all bells! Feels fitting for this theme in particular. Good work!
The morning star was awesome, I love the use of I think it's bongos I hear? It adds some nice energy to this OST. Also creative choice to do an all bells OST, I enjoyed that aspect and it was really fun to listen too!
I love the repetition and constant ringing of the bells, it makes for a very meditative experience. Great work!
Well done! I agree with others in saying that adding some variation to the bass could help reduce the repetitiveness.
Really liked the switch up with the third track!
Sleepy vibe in The Twilight. Made me yawn, so soothing and calm.
Nice work with these percussion instruments in Night Star. that endlessly repeating 3 note motif in the background seems a bit monotonous after a while, maybe make it less prominent or change it up a little?
Morning Star: I like those bells here, waking you up in the morning. Neat ambience!
I like the gamelan influence in the third track, it's very cool :) I feel like in the first two tracks you could go with a more laconic style like you can find in the minecraft soundtrack, right now the minimalism of the first two tracks can feel a bit too repetitive, but as spaced out little cues it could work well !
Quite fun, I like The Morning Star best! All 3 songs can get a bit melodically repetitive, but they're still really good!
