Description
Dungeon Crawl RPG, The Black Key Opening Credits would serve as a Opening Cut scene and The escape would be a track for the end when you escape the depths of the prison, but realize you still have to get off the island.
Message from the artist:
In the vein of Legend of Grimrock, I have been inspired to create a table top dungeon crawl where the party are prisoners trying to earn their freedom in this society of criminals. I had some notes and ran with it. I felt the theme for this would be a good video game theme.
Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
Runaway and Escape are similar so I ran with the idea.

Narrator is cool idea! Probably it could use some echo for voice, to better fit with the music in the background. But anyway, really nice work.
Was your inspiration the lord of the rings? The cover and the music give that vibe and I like it. Voice over is also a very creative idea. Good work.
Nice! You're the only one that I've heard added narration, it sounds like a documentary from the History channel or something. Your tracks are very epic and cinematic!
The Black Key Opening Credits: I very much enjoyed hearing the narration over the composition. I thought you had a great sense of hit points and cues within the story-telling in which I felt the change in emotion in the music at the perfect spots. I like the imagery in the bell tones that seem to ascend as your narration describes the prisoners being led up the winding cliff. Ooh I just got to the “Welcome to the Black Key” part and I LOVE the cello ostinato that starts immediately after. The trombone and violin combo at the end creates such a powerful and dark texture that takes the narration and throws you into the pit as you described to immerse the listener in the story. Very cool, creative, and unique effect!
The Escape: Your war drums/taikos sound so epic. As does the syncopated rhythm of the staccato strings and brass following the quiet section. In listening to this, I feel energized with pumping adrenaline and ready to find a way out! I wonder if having a repeat of the amped up section at the end after the calmer part would help round out the track and keep the intensity so that the listener is motivated to find the escape all the way to the end. I definitely like all the pieces you have here!
Overall: I really enjoy listening to the epicness of the tracks you create. The VoiceOver will be rated highly on creativity for me. It shows forethought in your story and in the compositional choice you made because of planning the story ahead of time. Overall great work and thank you for sharing!
Wow! Thank you!
Nice slow build on the Escape track - nice work!
You really took the time to set the mood for your "Escape" track and it payed off you had a nice pacing! I'd say you could play a little bit more with modulation on the string staccatos towards the end but other then that it was quite nice. Wasn't expecting the voice over on the second track and it set the mood really well.
Good job!
It's very refreshing to hear the opening credits, bring me right into the game!
Great job !
I was delighted to hear the voice-over for this track! Definitely made it incredibly immersive. While it did slightly distract from the music, I took time to actually tune out the voice-over and really listen to the track beneath it. I think you did an excellent job of writing underscoring. When the cinematic opening begins, I felt much more immersed in the story, and ready to start my journey!
The escape was a tense track, and it kept my interest throughout. Both of these tracks are really varied and cinematic, stellar job!
Thank you David, My Mic set up is not great at all, but I didn't let it stop me. My mixing over all is an area of learning and adding a voice over just made it more complex. I have a ways to go and see my self investing in a decent mic set up in the down the road. Thank you for the kind words!
Of course my friend, and no stress about the mic setup, the quality of your voice did not detract from the listening experience at all. A good artist can make do with even a poor set of tools, and I think you did :) the mixing was great, in my opinion. Your next step, if you want to improve your mixing, is to get creative with panning and stuff! But for these tracks I think it was great.
