As thebirderer said - work on the mechanics and fix a few minor things, and you have a good first level. I enjoyed the audio and the visuals.

Rough around the edges with some bugs. After inputting a move left or right the player would continuously move in that direction and the walk animation would only be updated if the direction was held. Music and are assets are nice and fit together well. Good work on getting it submitted before the deadline!

yeah it's kinda rough when you only  have few hours before  the time is up, so i only focused on finishing the project

and i just realized i put getkey instead of  getkeyup for the arrow keys but i'm sure the A and D keys are works well. right ?

well i guess i just need to fixed it once the jam is over.

nevertheless, thanks for trying my game !

Things I liked:

Artstyle:

The assets you chose worked well together.

Sound Design:

The sound effects and music fit very well.

In-game Instructions:

So many games force you to consult their main page to learn the controls, it's really nice to see those put into the game itself.

Good difficulty.

Platforming difficulty was very well done, the multiple paths and varying platform sizes really made the game.

Things I disliked:

The Combat:

Combat wasn't very interesting, save a snake on a small platform who could knock you off. There wasn't anything unique about the enemies' attacks, and with a single-attack platformer like this one you really need that to make combat engaging.

Bugs:

Unfortunately, bugs were the most challenging enemy in this game. I was unable to 100% because dying once respawned me in a ghost state, where I could still die from falling, but I was immune from enemy attacks and couldn't attack them. That meant the final NPC wouldn't react with me. There was also a ladder that would freeze you halfway up, softlocking you.

Things you could do to improve the game:

Call the Exterminator.

Bugs were what dragged this game down from a four to three star rating. If those could be squished, you'd have a very respectable platformer on your hands.

Put Springs On Your Slimes:

Something that could fix your combat problem would be adding a jump attack to slimes, forcing you to dodge and seperating them from snakes.

Synopsis:

There's a lot of good potential here, and it's easy to tell that passion and thought went into this project. There's a ways to go, but with some key fixes, this game could really shine.

Thanks for your entry. :)

Saran mending di bikin supaya bisa main di website itch io nya langsung aja, soalnya aku gak bisa mainin error terus di browser ku. atau sekalian dibikin jadi exe aja

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

maaf gak pernah bikin game html5 sebelumnya jadi agak bingung

sebenernya dah ada versi windowsnya, cuman dah keburu tutup jam nya jadi gak sempet upload

tambahan dikit, webgl nya dah diganti jadi html5 tapi resolusinya nggak pas banget. kalo fullscreen kayak kegedean gitu

ntar deh filenya di upload ulang habis jamnya selesai

Wait why is the game shown as a downloadable file when it's a webGL game? Shouldn't we be able to play it in itch io itself?

Developer (2 edits)

i think i just kinda in rush and panicked because i  only have like less than 15 minutes before the jam  is closed

and i never done  html5 game before so i have no idea how to do it

i've  made the windows version  ready to uploaded though , but the time is already up lol

I'm fairly certain that you can just change some settings in the itch page and it should be able to play. Uploads may be disabled now but I think tweaking settings should still be allowed? There's plenty of youtube tutorials on which settings specifically to change, so you should try it out. It'll help a lot more people be able to play your game (i cant, my browser just displays a warning about how it cant run unity webgl stuff)

Developer

thank you ! now the file is changed to html5

but the resolution is so mismatching because  i set my game resolution to 1280 x720

i've tried upscaling in the itch.io page until 1920 x 2040 but the health bar barely visible except you'd go full screen

anyway, i may need to fix the game and replace the file after the jam is over

Aight I just remembered to try out your game seeing as it is playable on itch now:

Overall pretty solid platformer! Really liked the visuals (they feel so cohesive even though they're taken from multiple different asset packs). Combat is actually pretty fun too (when it is actually working, more details later)

Although as a lot of people have already mentioned, there were quite a lot of bugs:

  • Movement works fine with WASD, but for some reason when you use arrow keys, the player wont stop moving even after you stop holding the arrows
  • If you die by falling once, the combat will stop working. You don't lose health from enemy hits, but nor can you attack them
  • This is more of a QOL thing, but I really wish falling doesnt boot you back to the beginning of the level. A checkpoint system would be nice
  • Another personal preference thing but the physics feels a bit floaty, which would be easily solved by adjusting the gravity value in unity (in my own game I have it at arnd 7-8 ish, depends on your game honestly. It would make the game feel more responsive to play.
Developer

alright i'll keep that in mind and try to fix it once the jam is over alongside with the resolution issue

thank you for trying my game :)
