Haha, great song! Nice choice interpreting 'black' as 'dark' I imagine. Whatever synth that is, it sounds a bit like cats to me, so I see this as a form of comedical horror. I like the speed-up at 0:56 too. And at 1:17 the song even becomes pleasant a bit! Very cool entry :D

I listened to your music 3 times to understand why it was both magnetic and disturbing.

I finally understood! The melody is major pentatonic in F# and your bass follows a major pentatonic scale in Bb (basically, there's a 2-tone shift). I don't know if you did it on purpose, but it's great! So technically, you miss the challenge a little bit, but in terms of atmosphere, it's really interesting.

I really like the creepy effect at 52".

Well I’m glad you liked it, I think this is the most experimental thing I’ve done so far and I’m happy how it turned out, I am no professional making songs, but the music jam is a good way to practice :)

I would like to know why you think I missed the challenge since I only used black keys, after all, N0tHinG is wR0nG hEre. (But seriously I would like to know)

Also funny story, the creepy sound is the last part of the song (1:36 - piano) but I accidentally copied and pasted it into the “wah” synth.

Oh yes, I wasn't clear on the challenge: the bass in Bb pentatonic scale, the notes are : Bb, C, D, F and G. That's four white notes. The melody is i F# pentatonic scale (that has all the black notes) so this part is perfectly fine. That’s why I consider it’s partially succeeded :)

So the creepy sound is a happy accident. I often find something by accident. And it's clear that doing one jam a week makes us progress.

But…I only usted black notes…I didnt used white note.

It's strange, because I assure you that from the very beginning, your "wah wah" sounds make the following melody: Bb F D. And later your bass plays F G and C. I have no idea why, but I'm 99.97% sure that's it.

If others are reading this message I would like to have a confirmation.

The bass is C# - G#, then G# - F# and back, so it’s kind of close.

And I can understand the wah sound can be confusing, it’s not the most readable thing, it is actually the same as the xylophone at 0:10, but with less notes.

This is the wah pattern, the white lines mark black keys:

I believe you.

I changed my note on challenge, I put 5 stars ;)

YEah! great entry! i love the tale the song transmite, and in some parts sounds uncanny. For some external reason, when i was listening, i had a little headache, so it was a mini plus.

Thanks, I hope your head is alright. Also if you liked the storytelling aspect, read the youtube chapters, I made something :)

I enjoy the vibe this gives off, very unconventional. I feel like if you had EQ'd every instrument this would benefit greatly. Overall, pretty good!

Never EQ’d something, probably will consider it next time, thanks for the tip :)
