For your first project, Pyramid Survivor is a seriously an impressive feat! I thought the assets fit the the game and the theme for an NES. Something that I would like to be changed is the hitboxes, at times I felt like I wasnt able too to hit enemys or I was being hit by enemy's unfairly. But overall impressive project! (Also nice Rick Roll!)
I appreciate the explanation at the start of the game but i thought the graphics and music were good and fit the era well. The hit box for the main character was a little too big, but it being difficult is part of it feeling like a retro game so good job.
Pyramid Survivor is an impressive game, especially considering it’s your first project with Godot. The aesthetics are fantastic and perfectly fit the style of an NES game, clearly showing the work and dedication invested. You can be very proud of the result. However, I noticed that enemies kill me from a bit too far away and that each time you lose, you have to close the game to start over. Despite this, it’s a great game. Congratulations on your excellent work!
Funny you can reach a point where you can stay on the stairs spot, the enemies don't even have the time to appear and you can advance this way without even needing to be in front your screens, I think I closed the game when I was at something like level 250.
It could be a NES game and I like the look of the hero and his walking animation.
Hello CryptRat, thanks for the complimets and the advice
Exactly what do you mean with the ladders? It must be a bug, every wave should be harder and longer than the previous (i confess than it should be better make the proggresion to)
I tried again and the enemies indeed won't have the time to appear from a point.
For example right now the next % upgrade costs 51 and each wave goes 0-37-74-111%, it will never last longer.
What I assume happens is that the period never goes down below the number of % upgrades.
I just played Pyramid Survivor and it's actually more than impressive you made this game using Godot for the first time. I like the gameplay where you use your sword to kill all the enemies in a wave. There is percentage of enemies defeated in a single wave, and I like the fact it's included in the game. It's also cool that you can upgrade your player for the next wave of enemies to kill. However as I played this game, I noticed I could kill the enemies farther away with sword without the enemies getting too close to me. So, the collisions and hitboxes of the enemies was not properly done. Despite your first time using Godot and making this game, this was really impressively made and it makes it feel like I'm playing an NES game!
hello osamahussein, thanks for playing my game and thanks for the compliments.
I know than the collisions are a crap, and it was for my low knowledge of godot than it give some problems, and between work and personal time I couldn´t do more, they have two different type of nodes for the enemys collision (one attack and other been attacked), if I make one little, the other one should be little to, and the same in reverse, I thought than it would be better hit the enemies far than receive from close, but actually i think than it was a stupid idea
Not too bad for a first stab at a godot project. I think my biggest issue with the game is that the hitboxes don't really fit with the sprites of the enemies or the player. It's pretty cool you got an upgrade system going between waves though.
Hello Kustaa, thanks for the compliments and the advice of the collision, that was a begginers mistake than I should seen it, and even I must confess than the waves sistem could be better
Game for the NES Jam 2024 (https://itch.io/jam/nes-jam2024)
This is my first project using godot, so is not so amazing as it could be, and I must admit than the sprites and the sounds could be better
I couldn´t make a restart game function, so if you die you must close the game and open again
