Combat mechanics are cool and I really wanted to fight some ships and find the secret weapon, but it seems they don't want to find me :D Tried two times and encountered only one ship :( it would probably be helpful to have a mini map with/or some indication where to go!
I also wanted to thank Kaiser Vox as without their comment I won't be able to find the menu: the X button that calls it is not listed in the controls, so it was a bit hidden for me :D
In hindsight I probably should have at the least made the map a bit smaller 😅 If you want any tips, head either North, South, or West and you will run into land, and you will eventually find the enemy battleships. All the land batteries are near the lands, I think Im gonna add a minimap to a new build shortly
Hello!
I've downloaded your game, I liked the idea of a ship-to-ship combat >:3
The start button wasn't working though, so I wanted to quit, and the quit button actually made the game start XD
The graphical assets work fine for the game, I think they were nice, but I had trouble findind how to shoot because there was no tutorial? (or did I miss it?) I also couldn't find any ship to battle with, even though I roamed the map for a few minutes XD
Did I do something wrong?
I can answer that :) Q < Left Canon > E Right Cannon. F > Front Cannon. If you press X, you open the menu that tells you the mission status and objective and also consult the controls. I think he is someone very used to playing, so he must have understood that this is obvious, but it really isn't.
I will say, if you press start there is a tab that says controls on the pause menu, which you hit by pressing escape 😁
Also this was an entirely new control scheme and gameplay that I have ever made or played, that might go some way as to why I whiffed making the controls more apparent
Control, once you understand the logic, is very comfortable and well done. The only thing I would add is a proximity arrow to other objects, to point out the closest enemy and replace the green buttons with translucent letters that activate each weapon. Because of the 3D world, some things are more demanded than others. I think if it was something 2.5D, front and back, like the Super Army War for GBA, you could keep the gameplay but make navigation less unreliable. However, I understand that this would practically make the game a shoot them UP and the strategic part would die. I played like I had on Newgrounds and it was fun ;)
