Okay full disclosure, I haven't finished the game yet - I'm stuck on the Alice Level. 🤡But I tried really hard and intend on getting to the end once I have more time! I saw a little bit of what's to come and I am really curious...
I can already say that this game is right up my alley. I especially like the little 4th wall breaks, the artwork, and how the controls are messing with my head lol
The personality of the two heroines is very apparent not just in their visual design but also in the way the game teaches you to play them. (Would this be considered harmonious "lunonarrative"? Do people even still use that word nowadays? 🙈)
As the Queen the playstyle is more aggressive and fast-paced, as Alice I am cautious and even her sprite looks like she is lost and overthinking every decision because she's constantly shifting back and forth. Both of them share some traits as well, most noticeably how chaotic everything is. This is very in-line with the original Alice in Wonderland source material! <3
It's amazing how so much depth can be conveyed by applying challenges on a Y axis vs. on an X axis, definitely makes me rethink platformers as a whole. A very original way of incorporating the jam's limitation, and also easy to pick up while hard to master!
