Fantastic game you've got here, especially considering it was all done in a month! the design feels a bit wonky, but that's part of the charm. some music would be nice, and the popups when you unlock something could be fixed in various ways, but none of that's game breaking so that's okay. the only time the game broke was when i entered "the kingdom" from the wrong side on my first playthrough with the sword, fought the boss, and then soft locked myself as i didn't have the double jump. Otherwise, it was a fantastic little arcade experience!
I was curious if anyone would take that route! It’s not well supported as you found, I’ll have to tweak some things to prevent folks from getting stuck. Maybe a design challenge could be supporting going through the Kingdom in either direction. I wanted more branches and routes in general, but ended up simplifying before the deadline.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback!
Love the art and sounds. Some music would help, especially since theres pause music but not in game music. The areas were cool, but the world didn't feel super interconnected and the game was very linear.
I really like the approach to rooms, and the map was nice, but I also found the rooms to look very similar which can make navigation a little difficult. I also don't think the coins mechanic was super necesary.
Great game though :D Congrats
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! It’s super helpful. I agree with the linearity and the rooms not differentiating much, as well as the coins being kind of a shrug. By the end it felt like I’d sort of tossed a bunch of features together, rather than sticking to a strong game concept. I’ll focus on that cohesion and breaking up the linearity next time.
Great game! I've checked your profile and this dino app sounds interesting :D game feels like complete! I like graphic, sounds, fighting and those nice effects. One thing it could be improved is more backtracking, cause the game is a little linear. Overall i had a great experience and those bosses were quite challenging!
Thanks for checking out Dino! It has been fun to build up and I have alot more plans for it - it feels like it gives space for reusing code and patterns vs starting over from scratch every time, or some other overhead for reusing addons/assets.
The layout is definitely a bit linear - I’ll build up something more complex next time! Glad you enjoyed the bosses :)
