Great work submitting making your first ever game and also on submitting a functioning game in a game jam, congrats! It broke on death for me, and also if I fell down. I couldn't shoot but I could run and jump so I could still make my way through the game. Probably slow the frame rate down a bit for the running animation, but the artwork looked good and the death effect was really cool. Keep at it and you will have a fully functioning game loop before you know it!
An interesting game, platforming felt pretty good in this!
Nice platformer, the movement feels a bit slide-y and can be a bit hard to control, but I don't think that takes away from the experience. I thought the gun shooting wasn't working at first, since there's no sound or visible projectile, but eventually I figured it out. The graphics, sounds, and music used were all well selected too.
I did find a bug, that the level doesn't reset when the player dies or falls off the level, so opening the menu and restarting the level is the only way to continue, which was a bit annoying, especially when there's some tricky jumps here. All in all, good job on this though!
Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts! It's a shame I didn't get bullet tracers in before the deadline but the game has good bones on it so I'm continuing development to see if there's a story worth telling here. I learned so much that I can get more done in the next two weeks than I did during the jam! (I already added bullet tracers...)
