A decent core gameplay loop that can get quite challenging and intense. Some audio and a little bit of animation would have certainly helped to create a more immersive atmosphere. Congrats on releasing a game!
At first I confued "avoiD" with "auDio". Some animations and sounds would also feel good in here. But the core idea of the torch is very well implemented.
A fun challenge, but it suffers from some bugs that also stop it rendering at 64x64. I think this would be a good game with a bit more polish.
