I really liked this one! I've tinkered with RPG Maker and had no idea you could create a puzzle game like you have in the surgery scene. I also really like the music! It is impactful, letting you feel how important it is to solve that puzzle in the idea that you are operating on a patient, but also chill in that it just lets you concentrate and zone in on that careful work and puzzle solving. Brilliant work across the board!
Thanks for the feedback!
The puzzle took around 800 lines of code in a custom plugin to get working correctly which took a majority of the time I spent on this game jam, but It's quickly made me very efficient at working in RPG Maker so I'm glad I did it!
cool story
i have finished all the normal stages on first time and got an A except the last additional stage .
also please rate my game if you haven't.
Thanks a lot!
I plan to spend a good portion of today rating submissions so I'll be sure to check your game out!
Cool concept. I liked the story and dialogue and the puzzle aspect worked pretty well. Nice job!
Thank you!
I like where you're headed. As you said, there is some work to be done polish wise. But jam games are what they are haha time is the ultimate enemy of us all.
One suggestion, fwiw, would be to maybe tweak the timing on the puzzle gameplay to be a little faster/more free flowing. I felt like I was spending a LOT of time watching that ball animation, and waiting to be able to move again.
Good Game.
Thank you for the thorough feedback! It's very helpful!
I wasn't really a fan of the pacing of the puzzle gameplay either, it's definitely worth looking into and you put it well into words what causes it to feel so slow. I'll be sure to consider your words in future development!
it is like text games, but i left the game after the surgery puzzle mini-game phase 3 after got stuck and my hope to pass this level has gone, good game : )
Thank you for the feedback!
Designing puzzles was something I didn't have too much experience with and was quite interesting as it's hard to tell if the puzzles are too hard or not when you already know the solution. I'll definitely have more people playtest next time I make a puzzle game.
Don’t worry the goal of this jam is to learn something new, and you did puzzles.
All the stars.
So I made it to the surgery.
I made through phase 3. Got stuck on phase 4.
A nifty little game.
Like many RPG maker games, a bit wordy, but that's in-genre.
Well done.
And at least as far as I could see, no rats to fight.
Thank you for the feedback!
Yes despite the fact that I love RPG Maker horror and puzzle games I've never really been a fan of the actual RPG elements within it so I disregarded them entirely.
Hello everyone! My game's a little rough around the edges as I spent way too much time programming as opposed to creating art and adding sound lol, I hope you can still find some enjoyment in it though!
Just wanted to clarify for those unfamiliar with RPG Maker, a large sum of the visuals are not mine but rather the default ones within the engine itself. I only created the assets for the surgery minigame and the early cutscenes. They were created during the last hour of the jam if I'm being quite honest, so yeah they don't look too good.
I plan to upgrade this game a ton after the voting period ends but would still love feedback on stuff such as: are the puzzles too easy or too difficult, how is the writing for the story, did the game run well for you, are the characters likeable for what is shown, and really anything you have commentary on.
I had fun making this and I've learned a lot about an engine I never used before but always loved, I'd love to hear from you all and I plan to check out as many games as I can in the next 5 days!
