Nice work.

The game looked and felt good. The controls were great. Great choice for the art. Really fit the mood.

I would have liked a death animation sequence. The quick jump back to the beginning left me wondering how I'd died a couple times. And I think with a platformer in the dark, the enemies should be slower or stationary. Asking a player to make quick reactions in the dark is a big ask.

Overall though. Nice little platformer. Nice design choices. Everything worked.

Cheers,

OH! And music and SFX would've really bumped it up to another level.

To elevete this game you could try editing its itch.io page, the white default design doesn't fit the tone of the overall experience :)

Here are my notes while playing:

  • Maybe a bug? It might be a bug that I can turn off the light and walk into the skeletons
  • Maybe a bug? I can turn off the light and push them off the cliffs
  • I felt like the game would have been better with a flight light. Without the light being on, it punishes the player, which means dying and memorizing the level, which is what I ended up doing.
  • Audio would have really made this game
  • The artwork was on point!
  • I wish the enemies would go back to their original position after I turn off the light. Not trying to make it too easy, but a lot of times, I died simply because I didn't want to potentially fall into a hole and die.

It's a great game, but it has legs to be expanded.

What a stylized masterpiece! Amazing job with the lighting effects and visuals, though some audio would be nice!

Starting sequence is also a tad confusing with the player spawning in the dark.
