Developer Feedback Questions
I'd love to hear any and all feedback.

However if I had to narrow it to just two questions it would be: 1) did you reach one of the three endings? and 2) what was your favorite class?

So I had a chance to play this as a part of a previous jam although I did not have time to get to an ending this time either. I ended up playing a monk instead of a Goth and I found both to be really fun. I would probably still lean to the Goth as being more fun but it was definitely close between the two. The changes to the combat are great and it felt far more fast-paced and made the overall game much easier to enjoy. I did interact with the lake quite a few times but I didn't end up giving it enough weapons and I wasn't able to afford the weapons I was finding at that point. I probably could of if I went farther but I was definitely starting to reach a point where I thought I might end up dying before getting further. On the whole, really enjoy the game quite a bit and the changes you made were definitely for the better so nicely done!

Thanks for checking it out again! A lot of those changes were absolutely a result of your feedback from the previous jam :)

Earlier, some people reported having their inventories filled with weapon drops. I went ahead and both added new weapon drops to a few enemies, and added the Lady of the Lake as an alternative use for those drops, rather than selling for a pittance. I went back and forth between requiring 5 and 6 weapon offerings before the reward. It's at 6 now, but I might scale it back down. There's this disgustingly, game-breakingly powerful build with a Cleric, the skill Dreams of Gold, and the Miserhammer; the Lady of the Lake makes it a bit easy to complete that build. Maybe I'll find an alternative way around that and lower the number of offerings.

That actually sounds pretty fun, I'll have to try the cleric at some point! I'll admit, half the reason I made sure to rate/play your game for this jam too was that I really enjoyed it last time and the devlog post made it look like you improved a lot of things. Definitely on the right track with it overall, I had fun last time but even more fun this time.

So in the intervening time (looks like 111 days according to the time stamp), I did some more updates and ended up bringing Dream Warrior to Steam. It's launching there on the 8th (and re-launching here as a premium title on the same day). As thanks for the excellent feedback on multiple versions of the game, I would like to send you a key.

Would you be interested in that, and if so what's a good way to get it to you?

No problem, thank you again! There should be a key arriving in your inbox.

Got it! Thanks :D

I put it in the review I wrote on steam too but thought I'd reply on itch too. I love what you did between this build and the full release. Making the different classes unlockable was a great idea. It really encourages repeat playthroughs. Overall solid little title!

Thanks! I definitely wanted to give some reasons to revisit the game, and I thought that would be a good solution. Also, it lets me ramp up difficulty or complexity. When I demoed an earlier version of the game in person, a lot of people picked the Drunk, which I really wouldn't suggest as a first class.

Thanks again, and also for taking the time to write a review!

Nice little game, its definitely worth reading through everything to pick up all the little jokes.

The user interface was very intuitive and easy to use! Great job with that. There was a small issue which only appears to happen when downloading and running the game through the itch.io app. Dialogue was being cut off at the bottom of the screen. I had to quit and play it in the browser instead where  it worked correctly.

To answer your questions I have to admit I didn't get to an ending, I don't know if it was because I took the wrong path, Threw the wrong item into the lake or stopped paying the beggars? I played the Cleric briefly on my first attempt and the Goth on my second. I would have to say the Goth was my favorite due to "the cure" spell! I think there were other funny things about it too that I cannot recall.

I think the game could be greatly improved by either making it shorter or adding more variety. I started out really enjoying the map, combat and characters. But, as it went on I found myself thinking "does this ever end". I thought it might even be a troll that purposely never ends haha!  I ended up just quitting the game as I was steam rolling all the combat and it was getting a bit repetitive.

All in all you have a nice little game here, with a little work balancing out the pacing I think it could be really fun.

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

I know exactly what you're talking about with the bottom of the screen being cut off. Some of my other games shipped via nw.js, which is similar to Electron, which the itch.io app uses. Long story short, device scaling throws a wrench in resolution. It's fairly easy to disable, but if I'm honest I didn't think about this game ever running via Electron! I'll see about putting some guards against that in, thanks.

I also see what you mean about the pacing. I had intended for the run-up to the bosses to be a bit of an endurance challenge. The Goth can probably go forever though, provided you find a way to occasionally recover MP (like the Swamp Blessing). I do promise it's not a troll though. But given the tone of the game, I totally see how someone could think that! The endgame should trigger at around 330 exp.

Thanks again for playing! At some point I may take another look at the pacing, especially in the run-up to the endgame. You know, amusingly, I was actually worried it was too short and have been trying to think of ways to go beyond level 5 without breaking things. I guess I read that one wrong.
