The first time I tried running the game, it showed the first line of dialogue and stopped refreshing the window afterward, even while the audio was still demonstrating that the game was continuing. I did respond to someone in a browser chat box, but I don't recall any other rpgmaker games behaving that way when I've switched windows. It worked better after I closed and reopened the game, but then it froze on the first battle after I tried talking to the big blue creature, defending a couple times to see if something would change, and the talking again. I think it was when I selected the top choice that it froze, but it did go back to showing the general battle menu. Both times I was trying to talk with the friendly words (because the intro and goal gave me the impression I shouldn't be fighting things unless really necessary).
Like the previous comment said, the mushrooms in the first screen should have smaller collision areas. It's strange for the player character to not be able to stand behind them. The battle transition went really slowly for me as well and included a rather long time of only showing a black screen. I'll also add that the screens showing the known creatures went by too fast for me to fully view them.
Thanks so much for your detailed feedback! It's a real shame that the game isn't working right for you, unfortunately I really don't know why this is. For some computers it seems OK, others not so much! Thanks for giving it a try all the same :)
I gave this one a shot, had some promise but I got caught on my third battle in a glitch that stopped me unfortunately. I got attacked by a cat thing... that does a Glare attack. The glare froze my screen. I can hear things happening on screen when I push buttons but nothing updates graphically.
So critique of what I did play. The hitboxes on things were really all over the place. The mushrooms had huge hitboxes and the little green orbs which i assume were supposed to be picked up were really hard to line up for me.
The game feels like it is running really slow, but I think it's the walk speed causing that. If you hold shift the walk speed doubles which is good. The battle start effect where the screen duplicates and spreads out like a deck of cards makes my computer chug for some reason.
I like the concept of saving aliens on a time limit but having those aliens not trust you. At least I think that is what is going on here. It was a little hard to follow for me. Overall it's a fantastic effort for a game jam. I really like the music.
Hiya Jack!
Thanks very much for trying out my game and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate you saying that it's a fantastic effort as I did put a lot into this.
Sorry to hear about your computer not being able to run it well, I have only tested the game on a couple of computers and I'm not sure why exactly that would be. I hope others won't encounter the same problem! I will also take on board your constructive criticism also.
Thanks again :)
