Nice novelknight model and fun gameplay!
I like the different types of upgrades you can get as well as the different and unique environments in the game.
Once I got the AOE sonar ability, I just spam it for winning without taking a single hit. I don't think I ever used the dodge.
I also like that you can do NG+ after beating the boss, so you can keep your upgrades.
Some improvement suggestions:
-Add an interaction with Shiori! She's just standing there and I was expecting her to say something to the Novelknight before we begin the quest.
-White text on light backgrounds was a bit hard to read. Try adding a dark background or outline to them.
-Enemies should spawn invisible and only turn visible after they've been moved to their positions. It was funny seeing them spawn in the middle of the room and then fly to their spot. XD
-Music and sound effects!
- Bug: Current HP didn't update after getting the max hp upgrade, so it looked like I had less HP than before. It got fixed as soon as I got hit.
It would be nice to see this game get some additional content, maybe a storyline, some more polish on the presentation and UI, and of course have some audio to complete the experience.
Oooo, a Hololive-themed roguelite!
Even in the current soundless state, I felt myself getting a little addicted to the gameplay and to trying stack as much ability cooldown/attack speed buffs as possible (I even kept thinking of Risk of Rain 2 where I would do the exact same thing there too haha). I love that the variety of the stages too!
There's a really solid baseline here and it's left me wanting to see more Hololive-themed games with this kind of gameplay :)
Nice Game! The Pebble definetly feels WAY too strong though since it can attack everything out of aggro range. Also you can easily lose aggro by running away. Other than that the dodge kinda feels a bit clunky to use. This game could also use some Sounds and Music. Felt so empty playing it without them lul
Quite ambitious! There is really a surprising variety of environments in this game, with a lot of 3d environments that actually feel quite different from each other. You do end up navigating each level a bit differently and they indeed feel like very different locations.
I know that with Game Jam constraints balance is pretty tough to maintain, but I do think that more enemy variety and balancing can help a lot. Since there are only melee enemies, ranged skills are very powerful. With a few upgrades I did not end up using my melee attack much. You can also defeat a lot of enemies outside of their aggro range, maybe making them aggro onto you if you hit them would quickly make the levels more challenging.
I think there is a lot of demand for a 3d hololive adventure game.
Core of the combat mechanics are all solid, I think mainly the slow movement and short dodge makes it hard to commit to an attack.
I like the different layouts of the stages, the very vertical Library stage was my fav
The light aggro makes it easy to slowly easily kill everything. And pebble is very stronk, no reason to use the sword once you have it haha.
Good stuff!
Pebble too strong. Can hit enemies outside aggro range. Suggest renaming to Chadble.
Chadble plays the giga chad music when thrown
Impressive! Love the idea of playing as a Novelknight, but I feel like the controls could use some tuning. They feel pretty clunky right now
Thank you! The Novelknight design is definitely protagonist material. Yeah the controls were a rough point, I do plan to tweak it after.
