I like that you managed to create so many challenges with just a handful of elements. Each new screen plays differently. It was quite hard to complete, though. I didn’t understand how to pass the screen with fish under the islands. I guess I need to jump over the fish and land on the corner of the tile. Not sure. Maybe you need to be gentler on jam players and make the main path reachable while leaving some bonus objectives behind the complex challenges.

Yea I have a bit of trouble on gauging difficulty. Thanks for the advice I will def consider that approach!

Congratulations on your submission!

Room for improvements I might suggest are when creating a platformer game, make sure to add coyote timer and jump buffer so the player wouldn't need to have the pixel perfect jump just like Montoya mentioned earlier. Been in the same place before ;).

Cheers!

Developer

Thanks for the suggestions! Coyote jump is when you can jump a bit after leaving a platform right? What is a jump buffer?

My girlfriend was laughing at me while I was sucking at completing the first level and then she further mocked me while I started writing this review so I decided to tell you exactly what happened because 1) it's the funniest option and 2) honestly from what you're writing about the difficulty it's exactly what you were aiming for. Mission complete. I am now forever a joke to my girlfriend.

(but it was kinda fun, if I can give some notes, the pixel perfect jumps are problematic with the fact that you can't really see the borders of the platforms. My gf is saying it's skill issue, but yeah)

Just being clear, skill issue on my side. Also she can't believe I posted this and it's now asking me to stop texting everything she tells me.

Hahaha I'm glad the game induced this exchange :). Yea the game still needed a lot of polish. I would fix up the tileset and make it more clear if I could start over. Oh well next time! Thanks for the thoughtful response!

There are many like it, but it's a show of competency.

Raise your ambition and drown yourself in issues. We'll see you again in December!

Quite a challenging platformer we have here (or maybe I just suck)... Like the level design and difficulty (Have not beaten it... yet). Good Job!

Developer

Haha no I agree. I definitely made it a bit harder than I should have. My friends were cursing me out. Part of me wants it to be challenging because that's what I like and the other part of me wants it to be accessible to more people. Thanks for playing!
